[00:00:00] Welcome to The Incoherent Fangirl.
[00:00:12] We're this week, we have a very special guest host.
[00:00:16] Beth.
[00:00:17] I'm Karin.
[00:00:18] We are both from Katmere Academy this week.
[00:00:21] Welcome.
[00:00:22] Longtime listeners of podcasts will know Beth is one of my very best friends in the
[00:00:26] entire world.
[00:00:28] We have movie night basically on a weekly basis.
[00:00:30] We try to.
[00:00:31] When we can be bothered.
[00:00:32] At least across the, not across the country like midway.
[00:00:37] Half the country.
[00:00:39] Half way, half the country.
[00:00:41] So as you know Mandy is out for this week but we wanted to do something fun so I
[00:00:46] invited Beth to come join me for this episode and we have a little extra surprise
[00:00:52] later on in the episode so stay tuned.
[00:00:56] We love surprises.
[00:01:00] In our timeline it is April 25th and I hate saying this because it makes time go so much
[00:01:07] faster but in y'all's timeline it is May 3rd.
[00:01:09] May?
[00:01:10] Oh that means Christian's gonna be 18 when this comes out.
[00:01:15] Yes, yes it will be.
[00:01:18] Oh my gosh.
[00:01:19] It's gonna be all grown up and getting ready to move out.
[00:01:22] I don't like that.
[00:01:23] I don't like it either.
[00:01:24] I want to get rid of all of this.
[00:01:26] I don't want to do this anymore.
[00:01:29] No fast forwarding.
[00:01:30] I don't like it.
[00:01:31] No fast forwarding.
[00:01:32] I don't like it either.
[00:01:34] The other thing is that on May 3rd I will be either in or driving to Santa Monica
[00:01:40] when y'all are listening to this to go to Yall West.
[00:01:43] I'm very excited about it.
[00:01:45] My daughter is also very excited about it.
[00:01:48] She was very, very stoked when I told her Robbie Couch and Adam Silvera were gonna
[00:01:52] be there because they're her besties as far as she's concerned.
[00:01:55] I mean that's legit.
[00:01:56] That's a mood.
[00:01:57] That's a mood.
[00:01:58] I feel that.
[00:01:59] That is a mood.
[00:02:00] I want to be their bestie.
[00:02:01] I do too.
[00:02:02] I do love them.
[00:02:08] They're great.
[00:02:09] All right, Beth tell me what did you do this week in fangirling?
[00:02:12] This week in fangirling I've been very busy okay.
[00:02:15] I've been like on it with the books so these are the books that I actually finished
[00:02:21] in the last week.
[00:02:22] The Bodyguard and it was so good.
[00:02:26] You've read that one right?
[00:02:27] Yeah, it was really cute.
[00:02:29] Like I don't know.
[00:02:30] It just gave me such happy vibes and I was here for it.
[00:02:34] I like the the like reversal of roles like typically the bodyguard trope is female
[00:02:40] bodyguard and she's like tiny.
[00:02:43] I feel like that she's kick ass.
[00:02:45] I loved it.
[00:02:46] Yes, you know not a spoiler because we all know that she's the bodyguard and it's
[00:02:51] gonna be guarding someone but I love that in their like meeting their very first
[00:02:55] meeting that he doesn't believe she can protect him.
[00:02:58] So he's like flip me and she does it and he's like it hurts so bad.
[00:03:04] It makes me so happy.
[00:03:06] Right?
[00:03:07] I just love that part.
[00:03:08] It's amazing.
[00:03:09] And the fact that he's like, okay, yeah, I'm in.
[00:03:12] I'm good.
[00:03:13] Yeah, I read Two Twisted Crowns by Rachel Gillick.
[00:03:17] I really hope I'm saying her name right?
[00:03:18] That's how I say it.
[00:03:20] No spoilers because I've only read the first book.
[00:03:22] No spoilers.
[00:03:24] It is the second in the One Dark Window duology and I just have to say super satisfying.
[00:03:30] Like it I felt like it was a little more fast paced than One Dark Window and I just
[00:03:37] love the characters like I don't know.
[00:03:40] I just it's gonna come back up again when we talk about our fictional boyfriends
[00:03:43] this week.
[00:03:44] So there's that.
[00:03:45] I read Dark Matter by Blake Crouch, which is very like science fiction.
[00:03:50] I don't normally do a lot of this kind, but it was for my book club for work and I ended
[00:03:56] up being so into it.
[00:03:58] So it's about a scientist and I can't remember his name for the life of me.
[00:04:02] So I'm gonna look it up here on my little good read.
[00:04:05] I think every week I forget names.
[00:04:07] So yeah, I'm terrible with names.
[00:04:09] I read them several days ago, so it's already out of my brain.
[00:04:12] It's gone.
[00:04:13] It's gone.
[00:04:14] So Jason Dessen, he is a scientist at a university and he gets kidnapped one
[00:04:19] night and basically pushed the reportal to another timeline.
[00:04:24] So it's very multiverse and I feel like it's very, yes, it's pretty well done multiverse.
[00:04:29] So it's his like journey to try and get back to his family and to then deal with
[00:04:36] the repercussions when he does get back to his family.
[00:04:38] And it's very like it's good.
[00:04:40] It's really good.
[00:04:41] I actually gave it four stars and I very rarely give four stars on good read.
[00:04:45] I'm more of a three star girl because four stars like three stars like, yeah, it was really
[00:04:49] good.
[00:04:50] Four stars like, yeah, I would read this again and five stars like, oh my God, this
[00:04:53] changed my life.
[00:04:54] So four stars.
[00:04:55] I read Crave, which is the second book in the Fallen Angel series by J.R. Ward.
[00:05:01] And so it follows Jim Heron as he's in the battle between good and evil.
[00:05:06] Divina, the demon and the angels are trying to figure out who's going to have dominion
[00:05:11] over Earth.
[00:05:12] Jim has decided he's done with the battle and whoever wins the most out of five souls
[00:05:18] in this little competition gets to have control of the Earth.
[00:05:22] And Jim is like the guy they decided would be the middle ground, like he's got equal
[00:05:26] parts good and evil in him.
[00:05:28] And so he decides who's going to win the battle by how he influences different
[00:05:34] souls in this world.
[00:05:35] So it's kind of an offshoot of her Black Dagger Brotherhood series, which I'm obsessed.
[00:05:41] I really, really like that.
[00:05:43] And then I read Perfect Son by Freida McFadden, and it's like a thriller mystery kind of
[00:05:50] book. So a girl has gone missing in this town and the last person seen with her
[00:05:56] is the narrator's son.
[00:05:58] Her name's Miss Case.
[00:06:00] And then what's her son's name?
[00:06:01] Liam is the last person who was seen with her.
[00:06:04] And she's always had questions about Liam.
[00:06:06] He's done some super sketch stuff in his childhood.
[00:06:10] Not a spoiler.
[00:06:11] We know this in the very beginning that she really thinks it's him that he murdered.
[00:06:15] And so it's multiple QV a little bit.
[00:06:19] So you get like the victim and the victim's point of view, like the girl who's
[00:06:24] missing. You get her son's point of view a little bit.
[00:06:27] You get hers and the detective's.
[00:06:29] And it's really interesting.
[00:06:31] I did see the twist coming a little bit.
[00:06:33] I'll say that.
[00:06:34] But I still really enjoyed it.
[00:06:36] Gave it a solid three.
[00:06:38] So those are the books that I finished.
[00:06:41] And then currently, as you know, I have to have a bunch of books going.
[00:06:45] Yeah, always.
[00:06:46] Those of you who don't know me, I always have a physical at home book, a
[00:06:50] physical at work book and audio books and then a Kindle book.
[00:06:54] I don't know why.
[00:06:55] I just I have to have all of them.
[00:06:57] So my physical at book at home book is Charm, which is the fifth book in
[00:07:01] the Crave series.
[00:07:02] And that's where I'm from this week at Meerkatomy.
[00:07:05] So in this book, is this a spoiler?
[00:07:09] Is it a spoiler?
[00:07:09] I say what this book is about.
[00:07:13] I don't know.
[00:07:15] I feel like it could be.
[00:07:18] OK, so potential spoilers.
[00:07:20] If you don't want to know what Charm is about, you're going to need to
[00:07:23] fast forward by about 10 seconds.
[00:07:25] OK, so maybe like it's so Charm is the fourth book in the series, but
[00:07:29] it's very much like.
[00:07:31] Fifth.
[00:07:32] Oh, fifth book in the series.
[00:07:33] Sorry.
[00:07:33] I only wrote down certain ones.
[00:07:35] So it's the fifth book in the series and it takes a very different turn than
[00:07:39] the other ones, and it's kind of it.
[00:07:42] It takes place during a time that.
[00:07:45] It goes back to a gap.
[00:07:46] Yeah, again, like somebody has a gap.
[00:07:49] And so it's that gap period of time.
[00:07:52] Like we're going back to a gap period.
[00:07:55] Right.
[00:07:56] So that again, if you don't want to know what this is about, this is
[00:07:59] the part where you fast forward.
[00:08:01] I'm not very far into it, but in this book, this is the time period
[00:08:05] where Grace and Hudson are trapped together.
[00:08:08] Yes.
[00:08:09] And so we're finally seeing what actually happened.
[00:08:12] And I am here for it because their banter is just phenomenal.
[00:08:17] I love their banter.
[00:08:18] It gives me life.
[00:08:19] Literally gives me life.
[00:08:21] Yes.
[00:08:22] And then I'm listening to The Paris Apartment by Lucy Foley, which, by
[00:08:27] the way, charm is by Tracy Wolf.
[00:08:29] And I would just like to say that she's a sadist going on record.
[00:08:33] Tracy Wolf is a sadist.
[00:08:36] Did she create some of my favorite characters?
[00:08:37] Yes.
[00:08:38] Do I also at times loathe her?
[00:08:40] Yes.
[00:08:40] I'm sorry, Tracy.
[00:08:41] All good authors are loathed at some point.
[00:08:43] Yeah.
[00:08:44] I just think it's how you know they're doing their job right.
[00:08:47] Yes.
[00:08:48] Yes.
[00:08:48] So just know going into this series that you're going to be like, Oh
[00:08:51] my gosh, she was right.
[00:08:52] Tracy Wolf is a saint.
[00:08:53] Yeah.
[00:08:54] Mm hmm.
[00:08:55] So back to The Paris Apartment, this is also told from multiple POV.
[00:09:00] And so Jess goes to Paris or apartment to her brother's apartment because she's
[00:09:05] like leaving a bad situation back in England and he left her a voice memo,
[00:09:11] letting her know, like, here's the address.
[00:09:13] Here's like get here buzz.
[00:09:14] When you get her, I'll be waiting up.
[00:09:15] He's not, he's not waiting up.
[00:09:18] She gets there and she's like waiting and waiting and pounding on the door.
[00:09:21] Finally, she threw some shenanigans.
[00:09:23] She gets into the building and then it's gone and smithing.
[00:09:27] So this is like her journey to try and find out what happened to Ben.
[00:09:32] You as the reader, this is not a spoiler.
[00:09:34] No very on that Ben is the very least injured.
[00:09:38] He's been attacked.
[00:09:39] Jess obviously does not know this and it's her finding out all the
[00:09:42] secrets about this apartment building that he lives in, like investigating
[00:09:47] the lives of people there.
[00:09:49] And it's really pretty interesting.
[00:09:51] I highly so far, I mean, listen, I'm only like 60% went the way through it, but I
[00:09:56] still, I think it's going to be really good.
[00:09:58] I've read a couple of Lucy Foley's books here in the last few weeks
[00:10:01] and I really enjoyed them.
[00:10:02] So, and then my physical at work book is the Atlas six, which Karen and
[00:10:08] I are both well, Karen hasn't started yet, but we're both reading
[00:10:11] it for our nerd girl book club.
[00:10:14] And so it's by all of me Blake and it's where does it even?
[00:10:17] It's like, I haven't started.
[00:10:19] I'm trying to figure out where it is.
[00:10:20] Mandy's talked about it multiple times.
[00:10:22] Yeah.
[00:10:23] Yeah.
[00:10:23] So, if you want to know, you can look back.
[00:10:26] Yeah.
[00:10:26] Six people are chosen for a secret magical society, but only five
[00:10:31] can actually be initiated.
[00:10:33] And it's like going through their first year as they're taking classes
[00:10:36] and learning about each other and about the society that they're, you
[00:10:40] know, supposedly going to be part of.
[00:10:42] And it's, it's pretty interesting.
[00:10:43] It's I am not as fangirly about it as Mandy has been so far.
[00:10:48] So far it's picking up.
[00:10:50] So hopefully I'll get there, but you know, it's good.
[00:10:53] It's just not like the best.
[00:10:55] It has a positive end point.
[00:10:56] Don't hate me.
[00:10:57] Yes.
[00:10:58] And then last, my ebook is envy, which is the third book in the
[00:11:02] fallen angel series.
[00:11:03] So we're back to Jim Heron.
[00:11:05] He's in Caldwell, New York trying to win another soul, the soul of
[00:11:09] a cop who's called Beck.
[00:11:11] So his last name is Delvecchio and his dad is a serial killer.
[00:11:16] Yes.
[00:11:16] So that is a serial killer who's on death row.
[00:11:20] And so what's weird for me is when I started reading this book, I was like,
[00:11:23] hold up, I've read this before.
[00:11:25] Let me look quite good reads.
[00:11:26] I swear I've read this before.
[00:11:27] Well, I haven't, but the beginning part of this book is actually in
[00:11:32] lover unleashed, which is the black dagger brotherhood.
[00:11:35] So you're reading the exact same thing.
[00:11:37] It's an offshoot of that.
[00:11:38] And it really confused me there for a minute.
[00:11:41] So Thomas Delvecchio who's called Beck his dad is a serial killer.
[00:11:45] He's a cop.
[00:11:46] He definitely feels both light and dark in and of himself.
[00:11:50] And so Jim's going to be battling for his soul.
[00:11:52] And when we open, not a spoiler, cause it's very beginning.
[00:11:55] He's in the woods where he went back to go actually kill another serial killer.
[00:12:02] Cause this guy is like bad news bears.
[00:12:05] He's murdered so many people.
[00:12:06] He goes to kill him and he's beaten there by someone else, which if you've
[00:12:10] read lover unleashed, you know who that was.
[00:12:14] I'm not going to spoil that part though.
[00:12:16] And he basically loses his memories because the vampires in this world can
[00:12:21] take your memories and like put a block on them so that you can't
[00:12:24] remember them basically.
[00:12:25] And the serial killer is dying and he's like, wait, did I, what?
[00:12:30] Did I do this?
[00:12:30] I do.
[00:12:31] I don't remember this.
[00:12:32] And so he's being investigated by internal affairs and they're
[00:12:37] investigating him, but he's also investigating another missing persons
[00:12:41] case that they think might be related to the serial killer, but they're not
[00:12:44] sure and Jim also has a vested interest in this missing person because
[00:12:50] he knows exactly what happened to her.
[00:12:51] He's not a bad guy that he just knows what happened to her, but it would be
[00:12:54] very spoilery for another book.
[00:12:55] So I'm not going to say we're following that and it's, you know,
[00:13:00] classic JR word.
[00:13:02] I love her writing.
[00:13:03] If you don't like smut, don't read her books because they
[00:13:06] have a decent amount in them.
[00:13:08] I personally enjoys me some spots.
[00:13:10] So I'm really enjoying it.
[00:13:12] I think you would really enjoy these books if you ever get to them.
[00:13:16] So I know three to seven business years, just put them on your list.
[00:13:19] There's so many though.
[00:13:21] I know.
[00:13:21] I know.
[00:13:22] It's like one series is like 18 books or something.
[00:13:25] And then you have like three offshoots.
[00:13:27] Like I think the Black Dagger Brotherhood is up to 21, maybe 22.
[00:13:33] You're not helping your arguments.
[00:13:37] And then yeah, there are some offshoots, but they are really good.
[00:13:39] And then books aside, fangirling, of course I've been listening to
[00:13:43] the Tortured Poets Department because how can you not?
[00:13:46] It's so good.
[00:13:48] And I've been watching Health Kitchen still like I'm working my
[00:13:51] way through the seasons at that.
[00:13:53] So that was my weekend fangirling.
[00:13:55] It's been a lot.
[00:13:57] It is a lot.
[00:13:58] Mine looks so little compared to that.
[00:14:01] Yeah.
[00:14:01] And normally, normally we both know this to be reversed, but I don't know.
[00:14:04] I've just been on it.
[00:14:06] I've listened to so many audio books.
[00:14:08] Now I'm at the point where I'm like, why would I pick up the physical
[00:14:11] book when I can listen to the audio book?
[00:14:14] I've always got an audio book going.
[00:14:16] I always do.
[00:14:17] So I've come to the dark side.
[00:14:20] I love me.
[00:14:21] I love me some audio books.
[00:14:22] So especially when they're multiple POV and they're
[00:14:25] narrated by different people.
[00:14:27] Yes, absolutely.
[00:14:29] Well, what have you been doing in fangirling this week?
[00:14:32] So this week I read, so I put a hold on this a while back and it
[00:14:37] was like the Libby was like several months or like multiple weeks.
[00:14:41] And I was like, okay, I'll just sit here and wait.
[00:14:44] But then I got like a message from a notification from Libby.
[00:14:48] There's like you have a, there's a skip the line copy.
[00:14:51] You can, you can skip the line and borrow it for seven days.
[00:14:55] And I'm like, yes.
[00:14:56] Bless Libby for that.
[00:14:58] That is amazing.
[00:14:59] I love that.
[00:14:59] I love it.
[00:15:00] I love it.
[00:15:01] So I listened to how to end a love story by Yulin Kwong.
[00:15:06] So Mandy recently read this.
[00:15:07] So our listeners will know the story, but basically you've got Helen
[00:15:11] Jong, whose younger sister, when they were teenagers, stepped out in
[00:15:15] front of a car to commit suicide.
[00:15:17] And the driver of the car was Grant Shepherd who was not, and is
[00:15:22] obviously he didn't intend to hit her, but you know, he was used in
[00:15:27] the situation because Helen's sister just decided that's what she wanted to do.
[00:15:33] Fast forward 15 or 13 years.
[00:15:35] And in the present day, Helen is a, you know, bestselling YA author.
[00:15:40] Her book is being adapted to a TV series and Grant happens to be one of
[00:15:48] the writers who has been hired to be part of the show.
[00:15:51] And so it is, it is a romance.
[00:15:54] So it is an enemies to lovers romance.
[00:15:57] And you love it.
[00:15:59] It needs a lover.
[00:16:00] I think from the beginning, you wonder like how just, just how, you know,
[00:16:05] because that's rough, that's rough.
[00:16:08] This is the person who even though it was unintentional is responsible
[00:16:12] for a family member's death.
[00:16:14] So it, but the way that Yulin writes is just, you can see the
[00:16:21] natural progression of their relationship and you can see exactly
[00:16:26] like what moments that things are starting to like Helen's walls are breaking down.
[00:16:31] Grant is, you know, starting to realize things about situations and all of it.
[00:16:37] And it's, it's just, it's so good.
[00:16:39] It's so well written for this being her debut novel.
[00:16:43] Like I'm here for it.
[00:16:45] I can't wait to see what else she writes.
[00:16:47] Yulin is also the screenwriter for Emily Henry's, uh, People We
[00:16:52] Meet on Vacation adaptation, as well as the screenwriter and director for
[00:16:57] Beach Read also by Emily Henry.
[00:16:59] So I'm really looking forward to all the things that are to come.
[00:17:03] So it was really good.
[00:17:04] I highly recommend it.
[00:17:05] And I have been in a very Crave like-
[00:17:10] Welcome to our world.
[00:17:12] So last, last week, I think I read Crave and Crush, which are books one and two.
[00:17:17] So this week I read Covet, Court and Charm.
[00:17:20] I'm in the middle of reading Cherish.
[00:17:23] I just finished Charm today.
[00:17:25] Mandy was like, Charm is the best one.
[00:17:27] Like, you know what?
[00:17:28] I do love me.
[00:17:29] I do love Charm.
[00:17:30] It's really good.
[00:17:31] It was not at all-
[00:17:32] This is probably the audiobook so I can get there.
[00:17:34] Get the audio.
[00:17:35] Okay, listen, I don't know if it's all of them, but when I went to go
[00:17:39] get them on audio, Libby, like two different libraries said that they had
[00:17:45] unlimited copies and I was like, I've never seen that before, but that's kind
[00:17:50] of cool.
[00:17:50] So double check and see because yeah, they were a blast to get through.
[00:17:59] My one, my one complaint is that in Charm we've got dual POVs.
[00:18:05] So we have Hudson and Grace's POVs in Charm.
[00:18:09] And so obviously they have two different narrators.
[00:18:13] The male narrator is British because Hudson has British accent, which is
[00:18:19] fine, except try as he might, his English accent is not quite on point.
[00:18:27] So when it's Hudson's POV chapters, obviously he's reading it in
[00:18:32] his normal accent as Hudson.
[00:18:34] But then when Grace says something and he's trying to say it in Grace's
[00:18:38] accent, like there are, it's not quite there.
[00:18:41] Not so good.
[00:18:42] Okay.
[00:18:42] It's not, I'm like, I mean, it's not bad.
[00:18:46] It's just obviously not English.
[00:18:48] But it gives you just like that little brain itch.
[00:18:51] I'm like, it's very clearly not an American accent and I'm like,
[00:18:55] okay, but it was still really good.
[00:18:59] I do think Charm may be my favorite of the series so far.
[00:19:06] I mean, I'm loving it so far.
[00:19:08] It's so good.
[00:19:09] Like you said, like the banter between Grace and Hudson is so good.
[00:19:13] And being able to see like, we do, I mean, we do see how their relationship
[00:19:18] progresses in the regular series, I guess, since this is a jump back.
[00:19:24] But like you get to see it in such a different way in this story.
[00:19:28] Right.
[00:19:28] You miss so much in the other books because Grace doesn't have the
[00:19:33] memory, so you don't see it.
[00:19:35] Right.
[00:19:36] And by the end of it, it is unbelievable.
[00:19:40] Like it's unbelievably heartbreaking to know.
[00:19:45] Well, cause you know that, cause you know she doesn't remember any of that.
[00:19:51] And so you see everything that plays out and you knowing that Hudson
[00:19:55] remembers all of this and she doesn't know any of it, especially since
[00:19:59] they go back and she has no memory.
[00:20:01] And so you, you sit there and you're thinking about it and you're, and
[00:20:07] because this is coming way after they've already like went through so much.
[00:20:12] Right?
[00:20:13] Right.
[00:20:13] This book is coming so much later.
[00:20:15] And so you get to see everything that they went through during that period
[00:20:22] that she doesn't remember.
[00:20:24] And then remembering that Hudson remembers all of it and he just has
[00:20:29] to live with all that while Grace doesn't.
[00:20:32] Doesn't.
[00:20:33] And you think that you're like, oh my God, like once you get to the end of it,
[00:20:37] you'll be like, oh my God, like my heart is breaking for this poor boy.
[00:20:43] There's just, there are not enough hours in the day.
[00:20:46] I need to get paid to read all day every day.
[00:20:48] That's the goal, man.
[00:20:51] That's the dream.
[00:20:52] That's the dream.
[00:20:53] True.
[00:20:53] Yeah.
[00:20:54] So yeah.
[00:20:55] So I covet Court and Charm by Tracy Wolf that those are the three I read.
[00:21:01] I am in the midst of Cherish, which is like a different plot
[00:21:07] point than the rest of the series.
[00:21:08] Okay.
[00:21:09] Well, I was wondering where they were going to go after, you know,
[00:21:13] because yeah, after, because the main, so the first four books, there's
[00:21:17] a very like goal end goal.
[00:21:19] Like there's a big showdown that you know, they're going to get to.
[00:21:23] And Court kind of hits that.
[00:21:27] And then you're thinking, wait, there's two more books.
[00:21:30] So then you get Charm, which is that gap period.
[00:21:34] Which I also feel like is a little bit of Tracy Wolf's apology
[00:21:37] for traumatizing us so much.
[00:21:39] She's like, oh, here, now read this.
[00:21:43] But then it, and I love the, I love the choice to, to wait until this
[00:21:49] period for her to, for us to see these memories this period, because it very
[00:21:57] directly relates to how Cherish is going to go based on like, I'm not very far
[00:22:05] into it, but based on what I know of the plot of Cherish so far, it very
[00:22:10] directly leads into it.
[00:22:11] So I, it's such, it's so strategic and it's so good.
[00:22:16] And I can't wait to see how this ends.
[00:22:20] I'm also nervous to see how it ends because I don't trust fantasy writers.
[00:22:24] I don't trust fantasy writers ever.
[00:22:26] In particular, I don't trust our beloved Tracy.
[00:22:29] I love her, but I don't trust her.
[00:22:31] No, she likes to traumatize us.
[00:22:33] I'm going to send her my therapy bill.
[00:22:36] You know, I've been talking about a lot of stuff in therapy.
[00:22:39] I feel like next week it's going to center on this series and my
[00:22:42] therapist is going to be like, what?
[00:22:43] Who are these people?
[00:22:44] But, but it traumatized me.
[00:22:47] So we need to talk about it.
[00:22:49] Yeah, definitely.
[00:22:50] But it's so good.
[00:22:51] It's so good.
[00:22:53] That was my week.
[00:22:55] Yeah.
[00:22:56] I mean, listen, just reading through the Crave series.
[00:22:59] That's a pretty good week.
[00:23:00] It's, it's, it's pretty good.
[00:23:02] I do traumatizing, but good.
[00:23:04] I do.
[00:23:04] I do love me.
[00:23:05] I do love me, Crave.
[00:23:07] Yeah.
[00:23:07] So tell me, do you have any fictional boyfriends for the week?
[00:23:16] Oh my God.
[00:23:17] Yes.
[00:23:19] Okay.
[00:23:19] I have three.
[00:23:20] Okay.
[00:23:20] So first of all, from One Dark Window from the duology, Prince, I don't know
[00:23:25] exactly how you're going to see it because I didn't listen to this on
[00:23:28] audiobook, I read it, but he goes by Ren.
[00:23:31] So, or no, he goes by Elm, Prince Elm.
[00:23:33] Okay.
[00:23:34] He's my boy.
[00:23:35] Love him like, and then Raven, you.
[00:23:41] So he is, he just gives me life because like, I don't know.
[00:23:47] I think he's just like kind of dreamy in terms of he's like tough and like
[00:23:52] bad-ass, but he can also be like, stint sweets and we love us a morally
[00:23:59] gray man and both of them are morally great.
[00:24:01] So we love them.
[00:24:02] Yes.
[00:24:03] And then from Crave Hudson Vega, not to sound too much like Mandy.
[00:24:08] He is just honestly like, he has peak book forces.
[00:24:14] You know, I'm yes, Hudson Vega.
[00:24:16] You know, I'm very much a Jane Austin girl, Jane Eyre.
[00:24:21] Those are my jam.
[00:24:23] Those will forever be my like hardcore book boyfriends.
[00:24:26] Okay.
[00:24:27] They're mine.
[00:24:28] They're my top spots, but Hudson Vega is pretty far up there because he,
[00:24:33] there's nothing he would not do for Grace.
[00:24:36] There's literally nothing he would not do.
[00:24:36] Also, I feel like Hudson, Hudson has that same kind of like
[00:24:42] classics, but boyfriend vibes without being from the classics.
[00:24:47] Yes, very much so.
[00:24:49] He gives off the same like, you know, vibes as like Mr.
[00:24:53] Darcy is like, I could see him saying, you pierce my soul.
[00:24:57] I'm half agony, half hope.
[00:24:58] Right.
[00:24:59] I could see that coming out of Hudson Vega's mouth or, or the, and I love,
[00:25:04] I love, I love you that Mr.
[00:25:07] Darcy does in the movie.
[00:25:07] Like I could totally see.
[00:25:09] Hudson is dreamy.
[00:25:10] He is like, and he is the very definite.
[00:25:15] He is the very definite.
[00:25:16] If you looked up the touch her and die trope, it would be Hudson Vega.
[00:25:21] Oh, 100% and die.
[00:25:24] That's not even like touch her.
[00:25:26] Just like look at her in a menacing way and die.
[00:25:30] Like literally.
[00:25:31] Like also why I like Elm and Raven because it's very much touch my lady
[00:25:38] and that is the last thing you do.
[00:25:40] And they, you know, they're both that protective vibe too, but they also
[00:25:45] recognize like their women's strengths, which I think is like one of the
[00:25:50] reasons I love all three of these guys is because, you know, it's not
[00:25:53] like I have to do everything for her or, you know, she can't take care of
[00:25:57] herself.
[00:25:57] They recognize that their women are strong, but they still be there for them.
[00:26:01] Yes.
[00:26:02] And side note, I also kind of love, and this isn't going to make sense
[00:26:06] to you if you haven't read this, but I also kind of love the nightmare from
[00:26:10] one dark window into twisted crown.
[00:26:12] It's been a while since I read it.
[00:26:14] So I would probably have to do a reread of one dark window before I read two
[00:26:19] twisted grounds.
[00:26:20] Yeah.
[00:26:20] I literally nothing is in my, I don't even remember the plot of the story.
[00:26:24] I kind of love the nightmare.
[00:26:26] Like he is, but I almost feel like, and this is going to be weird,
[00:26:29] like he knocks really weird, but he's more like my fictional dad almost.
[00:26:35] Okay.
[00:26:36] That I kind of, because listen, I've had a fictional granny, so no judge.
[00:26:41] I know, I know to him like else fits.
[00:26:44] He kind of treats her like a daughter, like the way he feels about her.
[00:26:48] And that's kind of like, you're kind of, you kind of suck, but at the same
[00:26:53] time, like you're kind of a good dad figure it's weird, but go with it.
[00:27:00] Please go with it.
[00:27:02] So what about you?
[00:27:02] Do you have a fictional boyfriend, girlfriend, non-binary something?
[00:27:07] I do.
[00:27:08] I do.
[00:27:08] Great.
[00:27:08] I wrote down two, I wrote down two, but like as I'm sitting here thinking
[00:27:12] about it, I probably have a couple more to in all honesty.
[00:27:17] Okay.
[00:27:17] So first Grant Shepherd from how to end a love story.
[00:27:20] Okay.
[00:27:21] This man, listen, Mandy talked about it last week, but this man can
[00:27:25] monologue, like we love, we love a monologue, we love a man who can
[00:27:29] monologue, okay.
[00:27:30] Love a man who's monologue.
[00:27:31] And like she said last week, like he's, he very much was like, do
[00:27:37] you want me to beg you?
[00:27:38] I will beg you.
[00:27:39] I will, I will do what I have to do.
[00:27:41] He, this man actually says, I don't care if you come to me
[00:27:46] smelling like other men.
[00:27:48] I I'll take a fraction over you.
[00:27:50] Uh, a fraction of you, if I can't all of you, I would rather have all of you,
[00:27:55] but I'll take just a fraction of you.
[00:27:57] If that's all I can get, like this man is so gone for her.
[00:28:03] He is such a sip for her and I love it so much.
[00:28:07] Like, so good.
[00:28:10] That is why is that so hot?
[00:28:12] Because he's like, you can come to me smelling like other men.
[00:28:15] Oh, okay.
[00:28:16] Literally what are the exact, hold on.
[00:28:18] When you get the exact thing he says, he says right before, right
[00:28:23] after where I said I wrote it down somewhere.
[00:28:26] I texted it to Mandy when I read it because I was like, this line.
[00:28:32] This line is everything.
[00:28:33] Okay.
[00:28:34] So he says he's, this is when he's like begging her.
[00:28:38] Like he is like begging her right now.
[00:28:41] We love a man who begs.
[00:28:42] Oh, he's so good.
[00:28:44] And he, he literally says, like, I don't care if you're, if you come to
[00:28:49] me smelling like other men, I'd rather have a fraction of you
[00:28:52] than all of someone else.
[00:28:55] What?
[00:28:57] What?
[00:28:59] Like what?
[00:29:00] I can't.
[00:29:00] My heart.
[00:29:01] I, right.
[00:29:03] I mean, on one hand though, I want to tell him he should get some therapy
[00:29:06] and have more, you know, like to improve his sense of worth.
[00:29:09] I don't know him, but I'm just saying, I do want to tell him that.
[00:29:13] But on the other hand, I'm like, but yeah, well, I mean, and it's
[00:29:15] like, it's less of like, it's less of a, I think badly of myself and more
[00:29:20] of a, I just love you that much.
[00:29:22] I need you to be a part of my, I need you in my life in whatever way I can get you.
[00:29:28] Like it's not really about like, I'm a broken person.
[00:29:33] I need you to love me.
[00:29:35] It's more like, I love you so much that I will take a tiny fraction
[00:29:42] of you if that's all I can get.
[00:29:43] And it's just,
[00:29:45] That's giving very Mr.
[00:29:47] Rochester vibes and I love it.
[00:29:49] I love, I love Grant.
[00:29:50] So that's,
[00:29:52] Grant, that's one.
[00:29:53] What's our other?
[00:29:54] Obviously, obviously Hudson Vega.
[00:29:56] We love Hudson.
[00:29:58] What's wrong with you if he's not your fictional boyfriend?
[00:30:01] If you read the Crave series and you don't love Hudson Vega, I don't,
[00:30:05] I don't know what to tell you.
[00:30:06] And, but also like I love Flint and I love Jackson.
[00:30:10] You know, I love them too.
[00:30:12] They're so great.
[00:30:13] I, and I think I feel like all, all the people in this found
[00:30:18] family in Crave are just the best.
[00:30:21] Like Remy, Remy, I love Remy, Calder, Eden, Maze, like all of them.
[00:30:28] I love them all.
[00:30:30] I love them all.
[00:30:31] Even Uncle Finn.
[00:30:32] I love Uncle Finn.
[00:30:33] Uncle Finn's great.
[00:30:35] Light spoilers.
[00:30:35] If you haven't read it, don't listen to this part.
[00:30:38] But the fact that Hudson has to suffer through giving up grace and he
[00:30:43] does that so selflessly.
[00:30:46] Well, and like, I feel like he's underrated.
[00:30:49] Hudson.
[00:30:49] Well, and then the thing is like Hudson and Grace put every, they were like,
[00:30:54] we will give this up because it will save Jackson.
[00:30:58] Right.
[00:30:59] And like, they just so much love there all around.
[00:31:02] Exactly.
[00:31:02] Like they are all broken when somebody is hurt and they are all coming
[00:31:07] together when they need it's just the whole found family.
[00:31:10] Like even the lesser scene characters like Calder and Mechie and who are
[00:31:16] the other Jacks, Jackson's crew?
[00:31:18] Mackay, Liam.
[00:31:21] Is it Mackay?
[00:31:23] I didn't listen to it on audiobooks so I said it how I said it in my head.
[00:31:26] I, Mackay is one of them.
[00:31:29] Okay.
[00:31:29] Well that's who I call Mechie because I read it in my head and that's
[00:31:32] what I remember.
[00:31:32] There's a Mechie too.
[00:31:34] Okay.
[00:31:34] There's Mechie and there's Mackay.
[00:31:35] Okay.
[00:31:36] And then Luca and Byron and I forget.
[00:31:40] Unless the audiobook narrator changed the pronunciation.
[00:31:43] I have not physically seen the book, so I don't know.
[00:31:47] I don't know.
[00:31:47] It's up later.
[00:31:48] Yeah.
[00:31:50] They could be the same person.
[00:31:51] Maybe this is the part where you need some Jupiter music because I need to
[00:31:55] know now, but you know, I am an avid listener.
[00:32:00] But the, you know, just the whole Crave gang, like the whole found
[00:32:05] family, they're all just so good.
[00:32:08] So.
[00:32:09] And they just, again, they're so willing to sacrifice.
[00:32:12] My fictional family for the week is.
[00:32:15] Oh, I love that.
[00:32:16] Yes.
[00:32:16] That is also my fictional family.
[00:32:18] That's what it is.
[00:32:19] They're so willing to sacrifice for each other.
[00:32:22] Yes.
[00:32:22] Okay.
[00:32:23] There's Byron, Liam, Luca, Luca, Luca, and then Mackay.
[00:32:29] What is it?
[00:32:29] There's only one in.
[00:32:30] Okay.
[00:32:31] So then the audiobook narrator changed the name, the audiobook
[00:32:35] narrator changed the person enunciation because there was
[00:32:38] Mechie at the beginning, like the first few books and like now there's
[00:32:43] the, she's saying Mackay and I'm like, who are these people?
[00:32:47] Right.
[00:32:48] But also there's so many of them that I'm just like, maybe I just wasn't
[00:32:52] paying attention very closely.
[00:32:53] Yeah.
[00:32:54] Yeah.
[00:32:55] But then also Raphael and Xavier.
[00:32:59] Oh yeah.
[00:33:01] Yeah.
[00:33:02] You know, anyways, at some point we need, you should have a rest
[00:33:06] in peace segment.
[00:33:07] We should have it in memoriam.
[00:33:10] Where we get to talk about all of our characters who we love dearly
[00:33:14] and who have departed our lives.
[00:33:16] I like this.
[00:33:16] I like this.
[00:33:17] I'm going to bring this up to Mandy.
[00:33:19] Please do.
[00:33:19] We'll see.
[00:33:20] We'll see.
[00:33:20] Maybe we'll do like, Oh, like our awards episode, like an award show.
[00:33:26] Yeah.
[00:33:27] Okay.
[00:33:27] Like how they do with the Oscars, but your version.
[00:33:30] That'll be great because there are some people who really need to
[00:33:33] be recognized for this.
[00:33:34] Yes.
[00:33:34] I love this idea.
[00:33:35] I love this.
[00:33:36] I'm going to write this down before I forget, because I will forget.
[00:33:39] Because I just had that idea for awards episode.
[00:33:46] Okay.
[00:33:46] Okay.
[00:33:46] Can I add one more fictional boyfriend?
[00:33:48] Cause apparently I just love all of them in.
[00:33:50] Yes, we're here for it.
[00:33:52] Great.
[00:33:52] So Jack Stapleton from the bodyguard, he is our movie star who
[00:33:57] Hannah is protecting and I love him.
[00:34:01] He gives piggyback rides and he sneezes in his shirt grossly.
[00:34:07] And our poor little traumatized baby.
[00:34:11] And I just adore him.
[00:34:13] Like I adore him.
[00:34:15] I'm here for that.
[00:34:16] I may have too many book boyfriends.
[00:34:18] Don't tell my husband.
[00:34:19] There's no such thing.
[00:34:21] No such thing.
[00:34:22] Good.
[00:34:23] Which by the way, I did pick up your book series that your fictional
[00:34:27] granny is from so that I can, it's on my TBR.
[00:34:30] It's on my TBR.
[00:34:31] I love you Vera.
[00:34:38] Sound means we have an intruder alert.
[00:34:42] You guys, when I said this month was going to be the month of throwbacks,
[00:34:45] I really meant it because we have our very first ever podcast
[00:34:50] interview guest is back.
[00:34:53] It's miss Joanna from here comes the nerd.
[00:34:55] Welcome back to my gosh.
[00:34:57] Is that me?
[00:34:58] That was your first.
[00:35:00] You were the very first, you were on episode two of the podcast.
[00:35:04] Our very first interview.
[00:35:06] That feels like forever ago.
[00:35:08] It really was though.
[00:35:10] Like somehow this is season three, so it's been three-ish years.
[00:35:17] Like how many episodes are you on?
[00:35:19] Do you know like the.
[00:35:22] Could not tell you off the top of my head.
[00:35:24] I can look it up real quick.
[00:35:25] I there is a handy dandy, not a handy dandy notebook, but a handy
[00:35:31] dandy internet page that I can look at.
[00:35:33] We have published 83 episodes as of this recording.
[00:35:38] So that's amazing.
[00:35:40] Episode 84 from episode two to episode 84.
[00:35:45] So welcome back.
[00:35:47] Oh, look at that.
[00:35:48] See, we still have a show dog.
[00:35:50] Even when Mandy's not here.
[00:35:55] This is Buffy named after Buffy the vampire slayer, of course,
[00:35:59] because of course.
[00:36:00] Yeah.
[00:36:01] Okay.
[00:36:01] Joanna, it has been a while since you've been here.
[00:36:04] We do talk about your shop all the time, but just in case somebody is
[00:36:08] tuning in for the very first time ever, let the people know what do you do?
[00:36:14] What is your shop?
[00:36:15] What can we expect from Here Comes the Nerd?
[00:36:18] Oh, wow.
[00:36:19] That is a long winded question, but I will try my best.
[00:36:22] So hi, I'm Joanna from Here Comes the Nerd.
[00:36:24] I am a nerd artist who likes to create happy art for all fandom living hearts.
[00:36:29] I try to create items from all sorts of kind of fandoms so everyone can find
[00:36:34] something that they love in my shop.
[00:36:36] And I primarily focused on things that could be kind of mass produced.
[00:36:39] So I do a lot of graphic designs and then turn those into pins, stickers,
[00:36:44] magnets, sticker books, notebooks.
[00:36:46] And I'm going to stop there because I could keep going.
[00:36:47] So a little bit of something for everyone.
[00:36:51] Sometimes jewelry too.
[00:36:53] Yes.
[00:36:54] True.
[00:36:55] That was old school Joanna.
[00:36:56] That was two years ago, Joanna.
[00:36:58] When I first was on this podcast.
[00:37:00] But we love old school Joanna and new school Joanna.
[00:37:03] Oh, thank you.
[00:37:04] We love all the Joanna.
[00:37:06] We do every iteration.
[00:37:08] Guys, you're making me blush.
[00:37:10] So what's it been like to see?
[00:37:12] Because it is kind of your shop is kind of like a time capsule for you.
[00:37:16] Like you see where you started and see how your art progresses.
[00:37:20] What is that feeling like to see like, this is where I was.
[00:37:23] I don't know.
[00:37:24] Where are you at seven, eight years now?
[00:37:27] And now like it's not, I don't like the term like improving as an artist,
[00:37:32] but like you're kind of diving.
[00:37:36] Evolving.
[00:37:36] Yeah.
[00:37:37] What's it like to see that?
[00:37:38] Like actually be able to physically see that.
[00:37:41] Oh, it is crazy.
[00:37:43] So I'm about to hit nine years in July.
[00:37:46] So I basically have a small child, but it is art.
[00:37:50] That's how I should remember it.
[00:37:52] Your small child and my small child are the same age.
[00:37:55] Are they?
[00:37:56] Yes.
[00:37:57] Mine is nine.
[00:37:58] Nine is so mine's a little bit older because she was born in February.
[00:38:03] Right.
[00:38:05] So, but nine.
[00:38:06] Yeah.
[00:38:06] See now I'm never going to forget how old she is.
[00:38:08] So it's a win-win for both of us.
[00:38:10] And I'll never forget how old the shop is.
[00:38:12] Perfect.
[00:38:12] I love that for us.
[00:38:14] Yeah.
[00:38:14] It's been very, it's definitely been a wild ride.
[00:38:17] You know, I started out as a very small like painting shop and from there,
[00:38:22] it kind of grew exponentially to this point where like, I could literally do this
[00:38:27] full time for those who didn't know.
[00:38:28] I work full time too.
[00:38:30] I was like, maybe you need that information, but I could literally do this
[00:38:33] like, like full, full time and be okay.
[00:38:36] But it's, it's crazy to see like my previous art versus like my new art,
[00:38:42] like my previous marketing, like kind of being able to compare everything from
[00:38:46] how it once was and just how it's evolved in its, it's crazy to witness
[00:38:50] and be a part of, but you know, I love the journey so far.
[00:38:53] So we love seeing it.
[00:38:56] Yeah, we do.
[00:38:58] I, are you ever going to do any more paintings that you'll sell?
[00:39:01] I have one of your owls in wonderland and I'm obsessed with it.
[00:39:05] It hangs on my wall.
[00:39:06] It's like one of my favorite things I have.
[00:39:08] So are you ever going to do any more of those?
[00:39:09] Oh, that is such a cute question.
[00:39:11] Um, I actually, I'm trying to get more into doing it more regularly.
[00:39:17] Okay.
[00:39:17] And I have six that I started and have been collecting dustins.
[00:39:24] So I have good intentions to just offer them like kind of on the side, not so
[00:39:29] much like how my shop used to only be paintings, but more like, Hey, I did a
[00:39:33] painting, you know, um, but like I said, it easily gets sidelined with
[00:39:39] like Patreon and like around stuff.
[00:39:42] So that's the epitome of being like a creative, like you always have something
[00:39:49] at some stage of the process.
[00:39:51] Like for me, I write, so I have like, I have like five whips right now that
[00:39:57] I'm like, okay, I should really sit down and like focus on one and get
[00:40:01] through one to front beginning to end.
[00:40:04] But no, they're all like at different percentage points.
[00:40:07] And I feel like it sounds like physical art is a similar situation.
[00:40:13] Cause like on that line, like being inspired while you're doing
[00:40:17] something is so important.
[00:40:18] And it sounds like you're a lot like me Karen for every day.
[00:40:22] It's different, you know?
[00:40:24] So I don't necessarily want to paint every day, but when I do, I start
[00:40:27] six and then, you know, dust.
[00:40:30] It's like things just pop up in your mind and you're like, I need to get
[00:40:32] this down and then you hit a point and you're like, okay, I think I'm
[00:40:37] done for now.
[00:40:37] And then six months later, you're like, wait, I have more.
[00:40:41] Exactly.
[00:40:43] It happens a lot.
[00:40:47] Right.
[00:40:47] Yeah.
[00:40:48] Same thing for me.
[00:40:49] So I'm glad I'm glad I'm not alone.
[00:40:51] Yeah.
[00:40:52] It's nice.
[00:40:52] And it's nice to know that's kind of a thread throughout all of
[00:40:57] like the creative arts and not just a single, you know, one piece of it.
[00:41:01] Like it, you're not the outlier.
[00:41:03] It's normal.
[00:41:04] It like makes it makes our community so much bigger.
[00:41:07] Like there's the writing community, there's, you know, the artist community,
[00:41:11] but then the overall creative arts community is like, oh yeah, no, we all do that.
[00:41:17] We all have projects collecting dust guys.
[00:41:19] We all do.
[00:41:19] They just kind of hang out there.
[00:41:22] So do you have any plans for anything?
[00:41:25] Like any kind of new product?
[00:41:27] I know you're always testing new ideas, new products.
[00:41:30] Do you have anything that is in the works that you can talk about or
[00:41:34] sticking with what, you know, for now?
[00:41:36] Oh, so like a completely new product line.
[00:41:39] Yeah.
[00:41:39] Something that you haven't done before, or maybe something that
[00:41:42] you're going to go back to that you haven't done in a while.
[00:41:44] Right.
[00:41:45] You know, I've been thinking about this a lot this week.
[00:41:47] So I'm just like kind of shocked that you asked that because
[00:41:50] like you've read my mind, you know, I really do want to introduce new
[00:41:54] products, but I really, I'm struggling to find something that
[00:41:58] would fit into my shop well.
[00:42:01] So like I would love to, but I haven't necessarily figured that out yet.
[00:42:06] Okay.
[00:42:07] Yeah.
[00:42:08] So you have any potential ideas that you want to, you know, I
[00:42:11] don't know, get some feedback on?
[00:42:13] I love how Beth has sneaked in there like, Oh, let's see what we can get.
[00:42:18] It, I don't think it's anything new, but I want to get more into
[00:42:22] pin boards because I feel like a lot of people, you know, don't
[00:42:24] really have places to put their pins.
[00:42:26] Yes.
[00:42:27] And have an overflow for it because of a certain nerd artist.
[00:42:31] I know.
[00:42:33] Naming names or anything.
[00:42:35] Right.
[00:42:36] I've gotten like recommendation to do like croc charms and that kind
[00:42:40] of stuff, a lot at conventions surprisingly, but I'm like, okay,
[00:42:43] raise your hand here if you have a pair of crocs.
[00:42:46] I do not.
[00:42:47] I have off-brand crocs.
[00:42:51] You could use them, right?
[00:42:52] Yes.
[00:42:53] Yes.
[00:42:53] Am I all of my kids have them and they're nerdy.
[00:42:57] My kids are nerdy.
[00:42:58] So, and they love the little croc charms.
[00:43:01] My mom might like, I could see so many people wanting crocs are
[00:43:06] like kind of having their moment right now.
[00:43:08] They are.
[00:43:09] Yes.
[00:43:09] People are into it.
[00:43:11] So if you were to do it, this would be the time, I think.
[00:43:15] Yeah.
[00:43:15] Yeah.
[00:43:15] I agree.
[00:43:16] It's funny because I actually bought a pair for conventions
[00:43:19] because my feet always feel like fire lava at the end of them.
[00:43:23] And my boyfriend, John, he was like, I don't notice anyone wearing crocs.
[00:43:27] And I was like, if you pay attention at conventions, you'll see probably 70%
[00:43:31] of the population is wearing crocs and he didn't believe me.
[00:43:35] So when we went to wonder con, which was, I think last month, I started
[00:43:38] pointing them out and he was like, what's happening where all these
[00:43:41] crocs coming from?
[00:43:42] And in the nurses too, because they're on their feet so often.
[00:43:46] Yeah.
[00:43:46] I know lots of nurses who have multiple pairs.
[00:43:51] Well, I work with a lot of teachers who wear them too, because being on our
[00:43:55] feet all day, like, yeah, crocs are more comfortable.
[00:44:00] It's true.
[00:44:01] They are interrupting mommy.
[00:44:05] She just wants to be part of the gang.
[00:44:08] Okay.
[00:44:08] Yeah, she does.
[00:44:09] She's like, my voice needs to be heard.
[00:44:11] It's very on brand.
[00:44:12] It happens all the time with Mandy's dog.
[00:44:15] So
[00:44:17] okay.
[00:44:17] So I'm going to use this as a potential moment to maybe peer pressure you a
[00:44:21] little bit, because I have been asking for quite some time, you will ever do
[00:44:27] any Buffy related pins because Buffy the vampire slayer is like vocation.
[00:44:35] And yeah, I'm desperate.
[00:44:37] Even if it's not, I know you don't like to do people, but even if it
[00:44:40] was like Mr.
[00:44:41] Pointy, like, Mr.
[00:44:45] Pointy, or like, Mr.
[00:44:50] Pointy, am I going to regret my life?
[00:44:52] Is not exactly people that Clem or you could, there are, you could do like a
[00:44:59] quote pin, right?
[00:45:01] A quote pin would be great.
[00:45:03] We've got the perfect quote right here.
[00:45:05] We do.
[00:45:07] Magic.
[00:45:07] So cute.
[00:45:08] I love that.
[00:45:09] Honestly, I know nothing about Buffy, but that hasn't stopped me
[00:45:11] from creating things before.
[00:45:13] Well, we know everything about Buffy.
[00:45:15] So if you need, you need like test subjects or like input, we're here.
[00:45:21] Yes.
[00:45:22] We're here for you.
[00:45:23] And we need Joanna pins of the Buffy variety in our lives.
[00:45:27] Yes.
[00:45:28] Honestly, if I can, cause I feel like I've only had two people recommend
[00:45:32] Buffy to me before and it was you too.
[00:45:34] So if we could get more than two people, if we could get three, I'd
[00:45:38] feel more comfortable.
[00:45:40] Listen, if I, we just have to find one more person.
[00:45:43] One more person.
[00:45:45] Buffy lovers unite.
[00:45:46] We need to make this happen.
[00:45:48] If you are a Buffy, the vampire slayer fan, send me an email and I'll forward
[00:45:53] it to Joanna and she'll see where all the interest is help us get this made.
[00:46:00] I know we're going to need a purchase commitment, but I just, I don't see
[00:46:05] it like in like recommendations on Patreon or like when I asked for new
[00:46:08] fandoms, like I never see that.
[00:46:09] It's fair.
[00:46:10] That's fair.
[00:46:11] You, I mean, you do have to, one of the two of us.
[00:46:13] Yeah.
[00:46:14] You, I mean, you do have to cater to an audience because it is a business.
[00:46:17] So we get that.
[00:46:19] We're just saying it would be really nice.
[00:46:24] So not related to that at all.
[00:46:25] Actually, I was going to be like cute segue, but no, it's
[00:46:28] not related to that at all.
[00:46:30] But so a lot of what you do is kind of like fan art of things that you can see.
[00:46:38] But in terms of like book characters, how do you, especially if they don't
[00:46:44] have like visual adaptation to it, how do you decide how to interpret those?
[00:46:51] Because some fandoms can be real intense and then sometimes you just,
[00:46:56] there's no consensus as to what like characters look like or anything like that.
[00:47:00] So how do you, how do you manage that?
[00:47:03] Well, I guess this is a terrible time to mention, but I don't have too
[00:47:06] much from books in my shop, which I'm sure Karen was about to get to.
[00:47:12] Petition to change that please.
[00:47:14] Yes.
[00:47:14] Yes.
[00:47:15] That's actually something that I'm trying to do more of as you probably saw
[00:47:18] with my newest round, I have fourth wing in there, so yeah, I tried.
[00:47:22] Love that pin.
[00:47:23] Love it.
[00:47:24] Yes.
[00:47:25] But previously I would do a lot of research as to like how the
[00:47:30] character is described in the book.
[00:47:32] And then from there, I usually look at various fan art.
[00:47:36] And kind of see like what different aspects I feel match the character the
[00:47:40] best, and then I kind of wing it from there.
[00:47:44] So it's not really a, like a true art form.
[00:47:46] It's more like a wing it and hope I don't get a yelled at.
[00:47:50] Kind of the vibes.
[00:47:52] The vibes.
[00:47:52] The vibes.
[00:47:53] When you're in your creative process, do you have anyone that you
[00:47:57] like, you draw design and then you get feedback from them or is it all
[00:48:02] just like you giving yourself feedback?
[00:48:04] If that makes sense.
[00:48:05] Do you have like a beta group?
[00:48:06] That definitely made sense.
[00:48:08] It's funny because like to prepare for this interview, I actually
[00:48:11] listened to my first interview and a similar question was asked and
[00:48:15] now my answer would be completely different.
[00:48:17] Okay.
[00:48:17] Okay.
[00:48:18] Which I do listen to that interview, but I've slept since then.
[00:48:21] So sorry for asking this question.
[00:48:24] I love it because it's been two years.
[00:48:25] So it's like, I feel like all my answers would be different now.
[00:48:28] So good.
[00:48:29] But originally my answer was like, I would reach out to people in the
[00:48:32] fandom who like really adore that fandom to get their feedback on it.
[00:48:36] However, in the past two years, I have learned that people can be very,
[00:48:41] what is the word?
[00:48:43] Critical is not the right word, but it's very extra.
[00:48:46] Extra.
[00:48:47] Almost protective of their fandom maybe where they're like, I don't
[00:48:51] know if that's the right way to say it.
[00:48:52] Yeah.
[00:48:53] It's like borderline rude how things come out.
[00:48:56] Yeah.
[00:48:57] Yeah.
[00:48:57] There's like, yeah.
[00:48:59] So I kind of developed this whole thing where, you know, I will show like
[00:49:03] sometimes like some close friends, but mainly I pass everything off through
[00:49:07] John because he likes to watch me as I draw.
[00:49:10] So if I do something wrong, he's like, whoa.
[00:49:13] So definitely different than how I used to do it just for my own mental
[00:49:17] health, but I feel like it still accomplishes the same thing.
[00:49:21] So yeah.
[00:49:21] And I mean, it's one of those things where it's like, you
[00:49:24] can't make everybody happy.
[00:49:26] You know, it's the same thing.
[00:49:28] Like we see all the time.
[00:49:29] It's like one person is going to love this specific aspect and then another
[00:49:33] person could hate that exact same thing.
[00:49:35] So you gotta do what's best for you.
[00:49:37] You have to do what you do.
[00:49:40] It's weird, but I, so, you know, I teach and sometimes I teach,
[00:49:46] I do like a little bit of art.
[00:49:47] I'm not an art teacher, but I teach STEAM.
[00:49:49] So we include smart.
[00:49:50] And I always tell my kids like art is what you want it to be.
[00:49:54] Does it matter what other people think about it?
[00:49:56] Like, do you love your art?
[00:49:57] Then that's all that matters.
[00:49:59] And I feel like that's pretty applicable to what you're doing.
[00:50:02] Like if you love it, then you know, Hey, it's your art.
[00:50:06] And I have never not loved any of your designs.
[00:50:08] So I feel like you're doing really well.
[00:50:10] That was the curious thing ever.
[00:50:12] I'm going to remember that every time I do a design now.
[00:50:14] It's like, do I like the art?
[00:50:16] That's what I did.
[00:50:17] My daughter all the time.
[00:50:18] Thank you.
[00:50:18] My daughter is always very much like she loves to do art.
[00:50:22] We all, you and I joked about it.
[00:50:23] Like she's gonna, she's coming for your job when she grows up kind of thing.
[00:50:26] Oh, she is.
[00:50:27] It's not a joke.
[00:50:28] She's gonna be your apprentice.
[00:50:30] And so, and every time that she sits down and she's like, I can't,
[00:50:35] mommy, I can't make it perfect.
[00:50:37] I just want to make it perfect.
[00:50:38] I'm like, honey, you don't have to make it perfect.
[00:50:40] You just have to make it something that you like.
[00:50:43] Like nothing in life is perfect.
[00:50:46] I'm sorry to tell you at such a young age, but like, you need to know
[00:50:50] you're never going to get anything perfect.
[00:50:52] That's just the way of life.
[00:50:54] As long as you are enjoying what you're doing and you love it.
[00:50:57] That's all that really matters because at the end of the day, I feel like art
[00:51:01] and as an expression for you, like it's your outlet and whether or not
[00:51:07] somebody else finds value in it does not decrease its value to you.
[00:51:12] So I love, I love, I love that.
[00:51:15] That's being spread.
[00:51:15] What's with this like cute little hype session for me going on right now?
[00:51:19] I love this.
[00:51:19] Cause we love you and we love you.
[00:51:21] We do love you.
[00:51:23] And you're anybody who wants to like, yeah, you are.
[00:51:26] And anybody who wants to come at you for things, I got words.
[00:51:30] I have a spiky water bottle.
[00:51:32] Come at me first.
[00:51:33] Okay.
[00:51:33] Come at me first.
[00:51:35] I just want to have a conversation.
[00:51:37] No big deal.
[00:51:38] Okay.
[00:51:39] So you listen to the podcast.
[00:51:41] So you are aware that there are certain questions that we ask all of our guests,
[00:51:45] whether or not they are authors.
[00:51:46] You are not getting out of this, ma'am.
[00:51:48] Well look at the time.
[00:51:50] We have a segment that we call fictional boyfriend of the week on the podcast
[00:51:54] in which we pick out a fictional character or 10 that we like that week that
[00:52:00] we're vibing with.
[00:52:01] This week it was a fictional family.
[00:52:03] It was a whole fictional family.
[00:52:05] What?
[00:52:05] So are there any characters that you have read recently or just maybe your
[00:52:13] all time favorite or anything like that, that you're like, that's,
[00:52:16] that's my boo thing.
[00:52:17] That one right there.
[00:52:18] And it doesn't have to be something you read, maybe something you watched
[00:52:20] recently, you can't say John he's not fictional.
[00:52:24] There goes my answer.
[00:52:25] He's going to make a pin of him so that he can be a fictional character.
[00:52:31] So I'll put him in a book.
[00:52:32] Uh, you know what?
[00:52:35] I'm just going to go with my classic one, which is Dorian from Throwing a
[00:52:39] Glass.
[00:52:40] I feel like he's a win just all the way around.
[00:52:42] So Mandy is, Mandy talks about him a lot.
[00:52:46] So we're the same.
[00:52:48] I can vibe with that.
[00:52:49] He's pretty great.
[00:52:50] I'll get there.
[00:52:51] I'll read that series eventually guys.
[00:52:53] I promise.
[00:52:54] In three to seven business years.
[00:52:57] And yeah, in like five to eight business years, it's fine.
[00:53:02] The timeline has gone up.
[00:53:03] Or if Sarah J.
[00:53:06] Mass wants to come on the podcast, I will binge read everything before that.
[00:53:10] Okay?
[00:53:10] So if y'all, if y'all really want me to read Throwing a Glass, then
[00:53:14] somebody is going to have to get Sarah J.
[00:53:16] Mass to come on the podcast.
[00:53:18] I don't know if this is tempting or not, but you might want to read it
[00:53:22] before May.
[00:53:23] For some undisclosed reason.
[00:53:26] I know it's very suspicious.
[00:53:28] Don't worry about it.
[00:53:30] Oh, very interesting.
[00:53:33] I really will find an NDA.
[00:53:35] Just saying.
[00:53:39] Okay.
[00:53:40] So I know that you are also getting back into the groove of reading.
[00:53:47] We have had many conversations about this.
[00:53:49] So what are you, what are you reading right now?
[00:53:52] Things or things that you've read recently that you recommend or anything
[00:53:56] that you watched recently that you recommend reading or watching.
[00:53:59] Oh shoot.
[00:54:00] Well to get on like the reading part, I'm now in a book club with you two.
[00:54:04] So I just.
[00:54:07] What?
[00:54:07] That's brand new information.
[00:54:09] This is brand new information.
[00:54:11] Never heard of this.
[00:54:12] I haven't had too much time outside of the book club to read other stuff.
[00:54:17] So it's basically just been book club stuff.
[00:54:21] That's fair.
[00:54:21] Busy life.
[00:54:22] But also I have a lot of big rounds coming up.
[00:54:24] So.
[00:54:24] Yeah.
[00:54:25] A whole, a whole book job.
[00:54:26] I mean, it's not like, you know, you work full time and have your own business.
[00:54:30] Right.
[00:54:31] Yeah.
[00:54:31] Yeah.
[00:54:31] I have plenty of time to read.
[00:54:33] Um, in my sleep would be good if I just cut sleep out.
[00:54:37] My gosh, if we could, if we could like write.
[00:54:39] Osmosis through sleep, like while we're sleeping and process,
[00:54:43] I would read so much more.
[00:54:45] I mean, light side note.
[00:54:46] I read today that if you live to be like 84 or something like that,
[00:54:50] that you will have slept for 28 years of your life.
[00:54:53] And I'm just like, do you know how many books I could read in 28 years?
[00:54:56] That is so neat sleep.
[00:54:58] That is so neat sleep.
[00:54:59] So much.
[00:55:00] I know.
[00:55:02] Kind of mind boggling.
[00:55:03] It really is.
[00:55:04] 28 years.
[00:55:05] Wow.
[00:55:05] Crazy.
[00:55:06] Yeah.
[00:55:07] All right.
[00:55:07] So, uh, before we let you go, Joanna, can't are, are there any other
[00:55:12] secrets or hints that you can give us for things that are coming or what do
[00:55:16] you have coming up that people should be on the lookout for?
[00:55:19] Well, recently I released by recently.
[00:55:22] I mean yesterday, but by the time you post this will be last week.
[00:55:27] I have no fandom left behind in my shop, which focuses on fandoms
[00:55:31] that I haven't released in my shop.
[00:55:32] And then I have something coming up in May, which I think I
[00:55:36] gave it away pretty obviously.
[00:55:39] No.
[00:55:41] And what I would really love is like to hit more of the book community.
[00:55:45] That's kind of been one of my goals this year.
[00:55:47] So when you asked me on the podcast, I'm like, hello.
[00:55:51] Thank you.
[00:55:51] Stars.
[00:55:54] Like hooray.
[00:55:55] Cause I would love to do more like fourth wing.
[00:55:57] I loved obviously Throne of Glass for no reason.
[00:56:00] And I just needed to make more time to read so I could
[00:56:02] list more than two books.
[00:56:03] But I get the point, but I would absolutely love to do more.
[00:56:08] And the book category.
[00:56:10] We would also enjoy that.
[00:56:13] You have a couple of guaranteed customers for that.
[00:56:16] And you both have books in the background of your books.
[00:56:20] What are those?
[00:56:24] I don't have a single book back here.
[00:56:26] I feel like I failed you.
[00:56:27] No, because you have your own art station and things.
[00:56:31] You've got your own stuff going on.
[00:56:33] That's true.
[00:56:34] That's true.
[00:56:34] But could use a book.
[00:56:35] We'll keep that in mind.
[00:56:36] Well, thank you Joanna for coming and hanging out with us again.
[00:56:40] Awesome.
[00:56:41] Thank you so much for having me.
[00:56:43] I'm sorry, Mandy couldn't be here.
[00:56:44] She had things happen and she's just.
[00:56:48] She had a thing.
[00:56:49] She had a thing and now she's not here, but we got that.
[00:56:52] So that's true.
[00:56:53] It's a good time.
[00:56:54] I know Mandy, but I have had a really good time.
[00:56:57] Yes.
[00:56:57] That's amazing.
[00:56:59] And you just quick side note, Joanna, I really need you to record.
[00:57:04] You have like the most soothing voice.
[00:57:06] So I'm going to need you to just record some random stuff that I can like listen
[00:57:10] to you at night when I'm trying to go to sleep, because I swear you have
[00:57:13] the most soothing voice I've ever heard.
[00:57:15] I can't tell if you're kidding or not.
[00:57:17] I'm not, I'm not kidding.
[00:57:18] Make a podcast of where you're just like, I don't know, whatever, read
[00:57:23] whatever and some people will listen to it.
[00:57:25] You are ASMR something of your voice because it's so soothing.
[00:57:31] I feel like when I'm stressed out, I could just put that on and just be like,
[00:57:34] Oh yes.
[00:57:35] Okay.
[00:57:35] Everything's going to be all right.
[00:57:36] Joanna's talking now.
[00:57:37] Good.
[00:57:38] It's good.
[00:57:40] It's funny because you know, when you hear your own voice, you're
[00:57:42] like, wow, I'm the most annoying person on the planet.
[00:57:44] So this is shocking.
[00:57:47] No, I love your voice.
[00:57:48] It's so soothing to me.
[00:57:50] Oh, thank you.
[00:57:51] That's so cute.
[00:57:52] Alrighty.
[00:57:53] Well, on that note, we'll let you go, but with the caveat that we do,
[00:57:58] we do have, well, see it's a little bit different for you, but I do always tell
[00:58:02] our guests that you are legally obligated to come back in the future.
[00:58:06] We normally say this to authors when they have planned releases.
[00:58:10] So maybe we'll just, we'll just see how your releases go and in the
[00:58:15] coming months and be like, Joanna, come talk to us about these things.
[00:58:18] You already know I will drop the world to come hang out with you guys.
[00:58:22] So any, any excuse to come back, I will, I'll make it happen.
[00:58:27] Yes.
[00:58:28] Maybe you'll have like, maybe, Ooh, if you get like a full like
[00:58:31] literary round, we'll have you on ahead of that so we can promo it.
[00:58:36] See the two more.
[00:58:37] That would be so cool.
[00:58:38] So it'd be so cool.
[00:58:41] Well, thank you so much and we'll talk soon.
[00:58:44] Thank you both.
[00:58:45] Bye.
[00:58:46] Have fun.
[00:58:47] Bye.
[00:58:47] Okay.
[00:58:48] Listen, I know I'm no Mandy.
[00:58:50] Okay.
[00:58:50] But I just feel like really quickly, I need to say Sarah J.
[00:58:53] Moss, please come on this podcast.
[00:58:56] I won't be interviewing you because I'm not a regular, but I would love to
[00:59:00] hear the interview and hear the freak out from Karen and Mandy when they book
[00:59:03] you and maybe I could convince them to also let me come on the podcast and
[00:59:07] just listen, I'll just listen.
[00:59:09] Like I don't even have to ask questions, but please Sarah J.
[00:59:11] Moss, come on.
[00:59:13] Do it as do as a, do it as a webinar so that people can just sit in and
[00:59:16] watch like it would, it would just speaking in the Royal we hear it.
[00:59:21] Just make our, our year.
[00:59:22] It would make our lives like we'd be so happy.
[00:59:25] We love you.
[00:59:26] Manifesting Sarah J.
[00:59:27] Manifesting it's happening.
[00:59:29] We're here for it.
[00:59:30] And you know, if that does happen, I did be in a best it.
[00:59:33] So you'll have to let me come and listen.
[00:59:35] Well, like I'll just be a little mouth in the corner.
[00:59:37] Only fair.
[00:59:38] That's only fair.
[00:59:38] Yeah.
[00:59:39] Yes.
[00:59:40] Okay.
[00:59:41] Well on that note, it's time to get into some announcements, which
[00:59:46] Beth already knows this because I tell her she's my one person that
[00:59:50] I'm allowed to tell secrets to.
[00:59:52] Yeah.
[00:59:53] I'm a good secret keeper.
[00:59:54] Mandy has Josh and I don't have a husband, so I have my twin.
[00:59:58] It makes sense.
[00:59:59] Loose it up.
[01:00:00] It's the same thing, right?
[01:00:02] Same price.
[01:00:03] Right.
[01:00:03] Same thing.
[01:00:04] The last time I think we had movie night, we were on the phone
[01:00:08] and she was calling to Casey.
[01:00:09] She's like, babe, babe.
[01:00:11] And I'm like, what?
[01:00:11] I'm right here.
[01:00:14] She was not talking to me.
[01:00:16] She was talking to her husband, but I was like, yes, what I'm right here.
[01:00:21] I'm listening.
[01:00:22] We didn't even talk about movie night.
[01:00:24] We did not talk about movie night.
[01:00:25] What did we watch for movie night?
[01:00:27] I was literally going to ask you the same question.
[01:00:31] I feel like it was on.
[01:00:32] It was on freebie.
[01:00:34] It was on freebie and their oceans eight oceans eight.
[01:00:38] Which was so good.
[01:00:40] Yes, it was.
[01:00:41] It was the first time I'd seen it.
[01:00:42] Yeah.
[01:00:43] It's the second time I've been in.
[01:00:44] And I really liked it.
[01:00:45] So, so good.
[01:00:46] Sorry.
[01:00:46] Side note.
[01:00:47] Anyways, we're very okay.
[01:00:49] Incoherent apparently this is basically like how movie night
[01:00:53] rolls every time we do it.
[01:00:55] So you're just getting very on brand insight.
[01:00:59] Yeah.
[01:01:00] Anyways, so announcements next week, Mandy will be back and we will
[01:01:04] have two interviews for you guys.
[01:01:07] It is a, we're calling it a very special entangled themed episode because
[01:01:13] we have Tracy Wolf is coming back to the podcast to talk about sweet
[01:01:18] nightmare, which is the spin-off of the crave series, which features
[01:01:22] Calder Academy.
[01:01:23] I haven't read it yet, but I'm really excited that which is why I'm
[01:01:26] reading the craze series because obviously I have to read that before.
[01:01:29] You have to have the background first.
[01:01:30] Right?
[01:01:31] Yeah.
[01:01:31] So I'm almost done with that.
[01:01:32] So then I will get into sweet nightmare and our second interview
[01:01:36] for next week is Mike Horland, who is the author of five broken blades.
[01:01:41] Both of these books come out on May 7th sweet nightmare comes is
[01:01:45] coming from entangled teen five broken blades is coming from red tower
[01:01:49] books.
[01:01:49] So, you know, there are certain expectations that we have of red
[01:01:54] tower been a fan of their books since fourth wing, which was the beginning.
[01:02:00] So I have high hopes.
[01:02:02] So yes, that the, we're going to have a double interview
[01:02:06] episode next week and we're very excited about it.
[01:02:09] I get so exciting.
[01:02:10] I know Mandy probably told her last time she was on the podcast, but
[01:02:15] now I get to tell Tracy that she's like sadistic very much looking forward to it.
[01:02:19] We love you, Tracy.
[01:02:21] Will you tell her that your twin thinks that too?
[01:02:23] That, you know, we text in all caps about how we love her, but she's the
[01:02:27] sadist.
[01:02:28] Yeah.
[01:02:28] There was, there's lots of yelling in our texts about Tracy.
[01:02:31] Oh my God.
[01:02:31] So much.
[01:02:32] So yeah, we're really excited and my, I think this is her, I want to
[01:02:38] say it's like her adult fantasy debut.
[01:02:41] She, so she writes under a pen name for her fantasy.
[01:02:46] And then I think her legal name for her romance, I want to say, I can't remember.
[01:02:52] So Meredith Ireland, I want to say is what she writes under for romance and
[01:02:59] then my Coraline for fantasy.
[01:03:01] And I'm very excited to dive into it there.
[01:03:03] The, the PR box that came with five broken blades says something like it
[01:03:09] has something to do with says something like, don't spoil the secret or something
[01:03:12] like that.
[01:03:12] Apparently there's twist and secrets at galore.
[01:03:17] So I'm really excited to dive into it.
[01:03:19] Plus I don't know if you have seen the sprayed edges on this book, but
[01:03:25] stunning red tower knows what they're doing, man.
[01:03:29] I have to not look at all the special editions or I will spend
[01:03:31] every penny I have on them.
[01:03:33] So that will be next week.
[01:03:34] We're very excited about it.
[01:03:36] That does mean that it, we won't be having any of our regular segments.
[01:03:39] We will just be having the interviews, but I feel like that's going to be a
[01:03:42] real good time.
[01:03:44] I feel like it's understandable.
[01:03:45] You know, it's going to be great.
[01:03:47] You guys are going to love it.
[01:03:48] I'm going to have a blast.
[01:03:49] So stay tuned next week for that.
[01:03:51] And now I believe it is time for our spiel where you get to sit and watch
[01:03:56] me flounder as I do this.
[01:03:59] You're going to be great.
[01:04:00] You got this.
[01:04:01] When I do this every week and every week, I'm just like, when am
[01:04:06] I saying, even though I have a list of things to say, what are these words?
[01:04:10] Words are hard.
[01:04:12] I know I'm a writer, but words are hard guys.
[01:04:14] But words are so hard anyways.
[01:04:16] And that's what she said.
[01:04:19] She said words are hard.
[01:04:22] It wasn't my finest moment.
[01:04:23] Okay.
[01:04:24] That wasn't, that's not your best one.
[01:04:26] That's not the best.
[01:04:27] No, no, I know.

[01:05:06] I'm hoping soon we're really, yeah, we recently discovered that our
[01:05:11] printer does pet merch, so I feel like it's a crime that we don't already
[01:05:16] have something that George Bailey can wear.
[01:05:18] So we're, we're, we're going to get on that.
[01:05:20] But if you want to shop some of our human merch, you can head to

[01:06:00] you that Beth and family.
[01:06:05] Yes.
[01:06:06] I'm like, it's the family.
[01:06:08] Family have started a business where I don't know all the details actually,
[01:06:14] because you don't talk to me about this because they're all crazy people.
[01:06:17] So you can explain, you can explain it to the listeners.
[01:06:21] Okay.
[01:06:22] So we started what we call core six industries.
[01:06:25] It's kind of based off of my husband's friend group.
[01:06:28] They call themselves the core six and they become like found family kind of
[01:06:32] things, some of them actual families, but mostly found family.
[01:06:35] And we are now creating different pieces of merchandise, like custom shirt
[01:06:39] can do laser engraving, etching, things like that.
[01:06:43] And as a slightly weird side note, I'm also doing flowers for mostly for
[01:06:50] weddings.
[01:06:51] It's something I've been doing for about, I don't know, 20 years at this point
[01:06:55] and just decided to finally go ahead and try it as a little side gig.
[01:06:59] So if you need any particularly wooden floral arrangements where you can
[01:07:04] custom dye them or silk flower arrangements, then hit us up.
[01:07:08] Or if you just want a custom shirt, custom cup, whatever you need,
[01:07:12] we are here for it.
[01:07:14] And you can find them at core six, the number six industries
[01:07:18] on Instagram and Facebook.
[01:07:21] Yes.
[01:07:22] And you can find Karen at miss made in China on all the things.
[01:07:25] That's me.
[01:07:27] And if you would like to follow my bestie here, Beth, you can find her
[01:07:31] at core six, the number six Buffy on Instagram.
[01:07:35] And once you have followed us on social media and you followed the

[01:08:50] is the perfect day because it's not too hot and it's not too cold.
[01:08:54] Not too cold.
[01:08:55] You just need a light jacket.
[01:08:57] Exactly.

[01:10:22] Okay.
[01:10:23] Yes, we do.
[01:10:24] All right, friends.

[01:11:05] wonderful because Josh and Shane are awesome.
[01:11:09] So you're going to follow them on social media.
[01:11:11] They're at the paranormal mind and at searchers believe on all the things.

[01:12:01] It was so fun to come on here and like, like this is great.
[01:12:05] I'm so glad.
[01:12:07] And again, like I, I'm firm in my belief that Beth and I are a better
[01:12:12] match than her and Casey.
[01:12:14] Have you heard of the olive theory?
[01:12:17] Because we stick to that so much better.
[01:12:20] Okay.
[01:12:21] Beth loves olives.
[01:12:22] I hate olives.
[01:12:23] Casey also loves olives and the olive theory says you cannot both love olives.
[01:12:29] These are the rules.
[01:12:30] I will inform him.
[01:12:32] I will let him know that he likes olives.
[01:12:36] So it's just not going to work.
[01:12:38] Exactly.
[01:12:39] I'm sorry.
[01:12:40] The marriage is just not going to work.
[01:12:41] We don't make the rules.
[01:12:43] We don't make the rules.
