[00:00:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, can I hear you?

[00:00:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Hello, hello, Testy Testy.

[00:00:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Holy crap that was loud!

[00:00:11] [SPEAKER_05]: Welcome to The Incoherent Fangirl.

[00:00:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Where this week Mandy is dealing with some heavy weather

[00:00:19] [SPEAKER_03]: and may or may not disappear in the middle of this recording.

[00:00:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Who knows?

[00:00:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, Hurricane Helene is on her way.

[00:00:26] [SPEAKER_05]: So if I disappear it's because I had to leave

[00:00:30] [SPEAKER_05]: or I lost power or internet or all of you both.

[00:00:32] [SPEAKER_03]: But staying safe is the most important.

[00:00:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Staying safe, that's the priority.

[00:00:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Thankfully our guest today is a friend so we always interview

[00:00:39] [SPEAKER_05]: awesome people anyway so like nobody would be like

[00:00:42] [SPEAKER_05]: you left our interview to go survive a hurricane.

[00:00:47] [SPEAKER_03]: But if we're there's no way we're inviting somebody

[00:00:52] [SPEAKER_03]: who would not understand that.

[00:00:53] [SPEAKER_04]: Right.

[00:00:54] [SPEAKER_04]: It's a podcast.

[00:00:56] [SPEAKER_05]: By the time you're hearing this you can check my social media

[00:00:59] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure I'll be fine.

[00:01:00] [SPEAKER_05]: But just in case you get anxiety about weather

[00:01:04] [SPEAKER_05]: we have an RV, we have it packed and ready.

[00:01:07] [SPEAKER_05]: We have go bags for us and our dogs if we need to

[00:01:10] [SPEAKER_05]: get out of our house because we're down in a hill

[00:01:12] [SPEAKER_05]: we're doing everything to be safe and we are prepared.

[00:01:16] [SPEAKER_05]: So then now go check my socials.

[00:01:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure I'm fine.

[00:01:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm sure I've posted since this has been recorded.

[00:01:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes, exactly.

[00:01:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Anyways, I'm Mandy of Gold Springs, California.

[00:01:27] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm Karen from the Witches Road.

[00:01:29] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I should also say I've got my sound on all my phones.

[00:01:34] [SPEAKER_05]: So if you hear Harry Styles talking it's not a

[00:01:37] [SPEAKER_05]: disembodied voice.

[00:01:38] [SPEAKER_05]: It's me getting a text.

[00:01:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I just feel like for tonight for the circumstances

[00:01:42] [SPEAKER_05]: it's safest if I see we're under a tornado watch right now.

[00:01:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't want to miss if we move into a warning

[00:01:48] [SPEAKER_05]: and I'm supposed to shelter.

[00:01:50] [SPEAKER_05]: Right.

[00:01:51] [SPEAKER_05]: So if you hear Harry Styles talking he's just trying

[00:01:54] [SPEAKER_03]: to warn me that the weather is happening.

[00:01:56] [SPEAKER_03]: In your defense though your microphone is so good.

[00:01:59] [SPEAKER_03]: That it only picks up sound there like directly in front of it.

[00:02:03] [SPEAKER_03]: So we might not even hear it.

[00:02:04] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, you'll make which is actually kind of sad.

[00:02:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I was gonna say we don't hear Harry Styles.

[00:02:09] [SPEAKER_05]: Harry says make some noise for Mandy when I get a text.

[00:02:15] [SPEAKER_05]: So like usually I would never have my sound on

[00:02:17] [SPEAKER_05]: but my ringtone is Loki singing.

[00:02:19] [SPEAKER_05]: So Tom Hiddleston singing.

[00:02:21] [SPEAKER_05]: And my text tone is make some noise for men.

[00:02:24] [SPEAKER_05]: Everybody.

[00:02:26] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm happy to hear my phone go off.

[00:02:28] [SPEAKER_03]: Right.

[00:02:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Well, maybe not in this specific circumstance.

[00:02:32] [SPEAKER_03]: It might be a little scary.

[00:02:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, true.

[00:02:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Harry will be here to soften the blow.

[00:02:38] [SPEAKER_03]: That's fair.

[00:02:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Now you say some mean things.

[00:02:45] [SPEAKER_03]: I am so sorry there's no way to soften this blow.

[00:02:47] [SPEAKER_03]: I am not as lovely as Harry Styles or Loki with his

[00:02:51] [SPEAKER_03]: saying voice in our timeline it is September 26.

[00:02:55] [SPEAKER_03]: And in YELLS Timeline it is October 4th and Mandy is fine.

[00:02:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Everybody.

[00:02:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Mandy is fine.

[00:03:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Fine.

[00:03:01] [SPEAKER_03]: She's fine even better because it's officially October

[00:03:04] [SPEAKER_03]: and all the spooky stuff is happening.

[00:03:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, so it's fine.

[00:03:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Everything's fine.

[00:03:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay, this week in fan girling what'd you do Mandy?

[00:03:18] [SPEAKER_05]: All right.

[00:03:19] [SPEAKER_05]: So I have that I watched two episodes of Agatha all along

[00:03:23] [SPEAKER_05]: my notes were not to get into too much detail just yet

[00:03:26] [SPEAKER_05]: as it just came out.

[00:03:28] [SPEAKER_05]: But if you disagree.

[00:03:30] [SPEAKER_03]: No, you can whatever you want to say.

[00:03:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't have very detailed notes.

[00:03:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, I just put don't want to get into too much detail

[00:03:37] [SPEAKER_05]: since it just came out to give people time to watch.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_05]: Right.

[00:03:40] [SPEAKER_05]: But it's Agatha after the events of Wanda vision.

[00:03:43] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a Disney plus show.

[00:03:44] [SPEAKER_05]: So even though I'm two episodes in nothing much has happened.

[00:03:49] [SPEAKER_05]: They normally save the big stuff for the end and then

[00:03:53] [SPEAKER_05]: everything pieces together.

[00:03:55] [SPEAKER_05]: And then my only other note is I am living and breathing

[00:03:57] [SPEAKER_05]: for Aubrey Plaza.

[00:03:59] [SPEAKER_03]: She's so damn hot.

[00:04:01] [SPEAKER_05]: She's a fan favorite in my house.

[00:04:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay, we all love Aubrey Plaza.

[00:04:04] [SPEAKER_03]: One of my notes for Agatha all along is just

[00:04:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Aubrey Plaza is so damn hot.

[00:04:09] [SPEAKER_03]: That's yeah, that's the note.

[00:04:11] [SPEAKER_03]: That's it.

[00:04:12] [SPEAKER_05]: So yeah, I also want Catherine Han and Juliette Lewis

[00:04:16] [SPEAKER_05]: to play like sisters and everything because they look

[00:04:19] [SPEAKER_05]: so much alike to me and act so much alike to me.

[00:04:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh man that like how could you not be sisters

[00:04:24] [SPEAKER_05]: in everything you ever filmed ever?

[00:04:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah, I'm so intrigued to see where this season goes.

[00:04:31] [SPEAKER_03]: I was really I yesterday so.

[00:04:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I will say the first episode is kind of starts out

[00:04:36] [SPEAKER_05]: kind of like a crime procedural.

[00:04:38] [SPEAKER_05]: It's so funny.

[00:04:39] [SPEAKER_05]: And we know last year last season they did like genres

[00:04:43] [SPEAKER_05]: or like decades.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh yeah.

[00:04:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Kind of mirror to show.

[00:04:46] [SPEAKER_05]: I told Josh like I hope and I was wrong.

[00:04:49] [SPEAKER_05]: Spoiler alert.

[00:04:50] [SPEAKER_05]: I hope that every show, every episode is like a

[00:04:53] [SPEAKER_05]: different show format.

[00:04:54] [SPEAKER_05]: So like one episode you've got a crime procedural.

[00:04:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Then the next it's like Bridgerton and then the next is

[00:05:00] [SPEAKER_05]: you know like The Big Bang.

[00:05:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, comedy.

[00:05:02] [SPEAKER_05]: It would have been really funny.

[00:05:04] [SPEAKER_05]: That would have been really funny.

[00:05:05] [SPEAKER_03]: That would have been really funny but I don't think

[00:05:07] [SPEAKER_03]: that there's any like because there was a plot reason

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_03]: for that.

[00:05:10] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:05:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Wanda vision in this there wouldn't be like a plot

[00:05:14] [SPEAKER_03]: reason for it which is why which is I think the

[00:05:17] [SPEAKER_03]: only reason why they're not doing it just would

[00:05:19] [SPEAKER_05]: have been so funny for that.

[00:05:21] [SPEAKER_05]: It would have been like the funny thing.

[00:05:24] [SPEAKER_03]: This it would have been so good.

[00:05:25] [SPEAKER_03]: It would have been so good.

[00:05:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I was like, oh my God give me a Bridgerton episode.

[00:05:29] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my God.

[00:05:31] [SPEAKER_03]: They went like really like hard overacting in the

[00:05:35] [SPEAKER_03]: first episode and I was like a little like thrown

[00:05:38] [SPEAKER_03]: off by it.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:05:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like especially Catherine on Catherine.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:05:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I was like Catherine is so much better than this.

[00:05:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Like what is what is happening right now?

[00:05:48] [SPEAKER_05]: But then I feel like it was supposed to be she's

[00:05:50] [SPEAKER_05]: playing a like beat cop detective overworked

[00:05:54] [SPEAKER_05]: underpaid.

[00:05:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:05:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Like I get it but at the same time it was like.

[00:05:58] [SPEAKER_03]: I think that was the point that was the point

[00:06:01] [SPEAKER_03]: like of that part of it and you don't realize it

[00:06:05] [SPEAKER_03]: until it gets to it moves along but just in

[00:06:08] [SPEAKER_03]: the moment it's like this is really hard to

[00:06:10] [SPEAKER_03]: watch actually.

[00:06:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:06:12] [SPEAKER_03]: It was really difficult for me to watch and I

[00:06:14] [SPEAKER_03]: was like, oh no am I going to hate this

[00:06:15] [SPEAKER_03]: show?

[00:06:16] [SPEAKER_03]: And I was really really worried about it but I

[00:06:18] [SPEAKER_03]: was like Catherine is much better than this.

[00:06:20] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:06:21] [SPEAKER_05]: We'll get there.

[00:06:22] [SPEAKER_03]: Trust the process.

[00:06:23] [SPEAKER_03]: Trust the process and she does not disappoint.

[00:06:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I love her so much.

[00:06:27] [SPEAKER_05]: I love all of the like the casting is perfect.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my gosh.

[00:06:30] [SPEAKER_03]: The cast is phenomenal.

[00:06:32] [SPEAKER_03]: The cast is amazing.

[00:06:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I love the cast so much.

[00:06:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm so excited to see what happens.

[00:06:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Fingers crossed.

[00:06:39] [SPEAKER_05]: I get to go downstairs after we record and

[00:06:41] [SPEAKER_05]: the weather.

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:06:42] [SPEAKER_05]: All of the weathermen are wrong.

[00:06:44] [SPEAKER_05]: All of the weatherwomen are wrong.

[00:06:46] [SPEAKER_05]: All the weathermen are wrong.

[00:06:47] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm going to go to sleep and I'm going to

[00:06:50] [SPEAKER_05]: wake up and everything is going to be great.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:06:52] [SPEAKER_05]: Let's manifest this time.

[00:06:54] [SPEAKER_05]: Not weather related.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm good with this.

[00:06:55] [SPEAKER_05]: Okay.

[00:06:56] [SPEAKER_05]: After Agatha all along, I have still been

[00:06:59] [SPEAKER_05]: listening to Jonathan Strange and Mr.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Norrell.

[00:07:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I have listened to roughly five million

[00:07:03] [SPEAKER_05]: hours of this book and I'm still not a

[00:07:05] [SPEAKER_05]: third done.

[00:07:08] [SPEAKER_05]: It's so chunky.

[00:07:10] [SPEAKER_05]: I looked down and I was like surely I'm

[00:07:12] [SPEAKER_05]: getting close and it was like 23%

[00:07:14] [SPEAKER_05]: and I was like, no.

[00:07:17] I'm going to go to bed.

[00:07:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Wow.

[00:07:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I have been listening to this book for

[00:07:22] [SPEAKER_05]: months.

[00:07:24] [SPEAKER_03]: And you also listen at an increased

[00:07:27] [SPEAKER_03]: speed too.

[00:07:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I do.

[00:07:29] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm at 2X speed.

[00:07:30] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh my God.

[00:07:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I need to go look and see how long the

[00:07:32] [SPEAKER_05]: actual audio book is because it's got to

[00:07:34] [SPEAKER_05]: be 500 million hours.

[00:07:36] [SPEAKER_03]: That is wild.

[00:07:37] [SPEAKER_03]: That is hilarious.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah.

[00:07:39] [SPEAKER_03]: That's so funny.

[00:07:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I love it.

[00:07:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Are you looking at that?

[00:07:42] [SPEAKER_03]: Because I'm totally looking it up.

[00:07:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Look it up and I will just talk about

[00:07:45] [SPEAKER_05]: it for a second.

[00:07:46] [SPEAKER_05]: There's a reason that it's so long and

[00:07:48] [SPEAKER_05]: it's because it has a lot of fluff.

[00:07:51] [SPEAKER_05]: And I'm hoping that eventually all the

[00:07:53] [SPEAKER_05]: fluff means something.

[00:07:54] [SPEAKER_05]: But it's just like there are so many

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_05]: scenes.

[00:07:57] [SPEAKER_05]: There are so many scenes for why.

[00:08:01] [SPEAKER_05]: For why.

[00:08:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Like I'm enjoying it but at the same

[00:08:05] [SPEAKER_05]: time I'm like it's so tedious at this

[00:08:07] [SPEAKER_05]: point too is getting so, I don't know.

[00:08:09] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm in over my head.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:08:11] [SPEAKER_03]: So it says the paperback first

[00:08:14] [SPEAKER_03]: edition is a thousand and six

[00:08:16] [SPEAKER_03]: pages.

[00:08:17] [SPEAKER_03]: The paperback edition.

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:08:19] [SPEAKER_05]: I think that's what I have over here

[00:08:20] [SPEAKER_05]: somewhere.

[00:08:21] [SPEAKER_03]: So let me see.

[00:08:22] [SPEAKER_03]: It does it for some reason when I look

[00:08:24] [SPEAKER_03]: at the audio it tells me number of

[00:08:26] [SPEAKER_03]: pages instead of listening hours.

[00:08:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Let me see.

[00:08:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going into audible right now to

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_03]: look it up.

[00:08:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know why I didn't think to do

[00:08:32] [SPEAKER_03]: that the first place.

[00:08:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I'm sorry.

[00:08:35] [SPEAKER_05]: I am over a third.

[00:08:36] [SPEAKER_05]: I have listened to 13 hours and

[00:08:38] [SPEAKER_05]: 52 minutes and I am 38% of the way

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_05]: in.

[00:08:41] [SPEAKER_03]: Oh my goodness.

[00:08:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I wish it would give me like book

[00:08:44] [SPEAKER_05]: info.

[00:08:46] [SPEAKER_03]: 32 hours and 29 minutes.

[00:08:48] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, okay.

[00:08:49] [SPEAKER_05]: This has extra stuff.

[00:08:50] [SPEAKER_05]: The Libro.fm version has 36 hours

[00:08:53] [SPEAKER_05]: and 34 minutes.

[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Yikes.

[00:08:56] [SPEAKER_03]: All righty then.

[00:08:57] [SPEAKER_03]: You have fun with that.

[00:08:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Anyways, fighting for my life

[00:09:01] [SPEAKER_05]: with this book.

[00:09:02] [SPEAKER_05]: I want to finish it but I'm just

[00:09:04] [SPEAKER_05]: like oh my gosh.

[00:09:06] [SPEAKER_03]: It's one that you have to just

[00:09:07] [SPEAKER_03]: commit to and take your time with

[00:09:09] [SPEAKER_03]: and let it happen.

[00:09:10] [SPEAKER_03]: It'll happen.

[00:09:12] [SPEAKER_03]: It'll just take time.

[00:09:13] [SPEAKER_05]: It'll happen.

[00:09:14] [SPEAKER_05]: I feel like I've spent more time

[00:09:15] [SPEAKER_05]: listening to this than I did for the

[00:09:17] [SPEAKER_05]: entirety of my Throne of Glass.

[00:09:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Listen.

[00:09:21] [SPEAKER_05]: And all I think when I'm listening

[00:09:22] [SPEAKER_05]: to it, I could be with Dorian.

[00:09:25] [SPEAKER_05]: My husband is back in the

[00:09:27] [SPEAKER_05]: end of Assassin's Blade.

[00:09:29] [SPEAKER_05]: He's in the third of the four

[00:09:32] [SPEAKER_05]: novellas.

[00:09:33] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm like before we start five

[00:09:34] [SPEAKER_05]: listen to Francesca and then

[00:09:36] [SPEAKER_05]: you can cry.

[00:09:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Anyways, he's really making me

[00:09:38] [SPEAKER_05]: want to go back to Throne of Glass.

[00:09:39] [SPEAKER_05]: After we finished recording last week

[00:09:42] [SPEAKER_05]: I finished Did You Hear About Kitty Car

[00:09:44] [SPEAKER_05]: by Crystal Smith-Paul.

[00:09:45] [SPEAKER_05]: I loved it.

[00:09:46] [SPEAKER_05]: It's such a good book.

[00:09:48] [SPEAKER_05]: My only critique is that it

[00:09:50] [SPEAKER_05]: got a very, very, very abrupt

[00:09:52] [SPEAKER_05]: ending.

[00:09:53] [SPEAKER_05]: That you don't see that being

[00:09:54] [SPEAKER_05]: the ending and so I feel like it

[00:09:56] [SPEAKER_05]: could have used four or five more

[00:09:57] [SPEAKER_05]: chapters before it just

[00:10:00] [SPEAKER_05]: ended like that.

[00:10:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Like I had to look and make sure

[00:10:03] [SPEAKER_05]: there wasn't an error.

[00:10:05] [SPEAKER_05]: It was that abrupt.

[00:10:06] [SPEAKER_05]: We went pseudo camping this weekend.

[00:10:09] [SPEAKER_05]: We went to Murphy North Carolina

[00:10:11] [SPEAKER_05]: to visit my father-in-law and

[00:10:13] [SPEAKER_05]: his fiancee were, they've been like

[00:10:15] [SPEAKER_05]: making their way across.

[00:10:16] [SPEAKER_05]: They went out west and came back

[00:10:17] [SPEAKER_05]: so they landed in, they're in an

[00:10:20] [SPEAKER_05]: RV but they stopped in Murphy

[00:10:21] [SPEAKER_05]: North Carolina.

[00:10:22] [SPEAKER_05]: They're going to be there for about a month

[00:10:23] [SPEAKER_05]: and then they'll make their way down

[00:10:24] [SPEAKER_05]: here for the holidays of course.

[00:10:26] [SPEAKER_05]: We took the RV, we took the

[00:10:27] [SPEAKER_05]: twins and we took George Bailey.

[00:10:29] [SPEAKER_05]: It's a very cute little town.

[00:10:31] [SPEAKER_05]: It's got a little downtown area.

[00:10:32] [SPEAKER_05]: We went on a river walk.

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_01]: What is that?

[00:10:34] [SPEAKER_05]: My idea of a river walk is

[00:10:37] [SPEAKER_05]: little stores on the side of a river

[00:10:39] [SPEAKER_05]: with sidewalk.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_05]: No, no.

[00:10:40] [SPEAKER_05]: This was like in trees and

[00:10:42] [SPEAKER_05]: a dirt path.

[00:10:44] [SPEAKER_03]: In the outdoors?

[00:10:45] [SPEAKER_05]: In the outdoors.

[00:10:46] [SPEAKER_05]: There was a sign that said we were

[00:10:48] [SPEAKER_05]: in Bigfoot's brooding grounds.

[00:10:51] [SPEAKER_05]: That only lasted for

[00:10:53] [SPEAKER_05]: like 20 minutes and then we went

[00:10:54] [SPEAKER_05]: to Mercer Orchards in Blue Ridge,

[00:10:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Georgia, which I got two flights

[00:10:58] [SPEAKER_05]: of cider because I couldn't decide

[00:11:00] [SPEAKER_05]: between the two and Josh got a

[00:11:02] [SPEAKER_05]: Blackberry Sangria Smoothie

[00:11:04] [SPEAKER_05]: thing slushy.

[00:11:05] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:11:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Delightful.

[00:11:07] [SPEAKER_03]: Sounds amazing.

[00:11:08] [SPEAKER_05]: So we earned our alcohol.

[00:11:11] [SPEAKER_05]: We grilled

[00:11:12] [SPEAKER_05]: about burgers that night.

[00:11:14] [SPEAKER_05]: It was nice, it was peaceful, quiet.

[00:11:15] [SPEAKER_05]: We were in the Smoky Mountains.

[00:11:17] [SPEAKER_05]: I took a lot of notes, mental notes

[00:11:19] [SPEAKER_05]: because I am that way.

[00:11:21] [SPEAKER_05]: I did not break out a little note

[00:11:23] [SPEAKER_05]: pad for my book because a lot

[00:11:25] [SPEAKER_05]: of it takes place in the mountains

[00:11:27] [SPEAKER_05]: of Appalachia.

[00:11:28] [SPEAKER_05]: So it gave me a lot of ideas,

[00:11:30] [SPEAKER_05]: a lot of things to tweak on the way

[00:11:32] [SPEAKER_05]: home we got Whataburger, which was

[00:11:34] [SPEAKER_05]: the second time in a week that I had

[00:11:35] [SPEAKER_05]: Whataburger so I was flying high.

[00:11:37] [SPEAKER_05]: I was in heaven.

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_05]: Oh, I love it.

[00:11:38] [SPEAKER_05]: While we were on our trip, I started

[00:11:40] [SPEAKER_05]: and almost finished.

[00:11:41] [SPEAKER_05]: I finished it last night.

[00:11:43] [SPEAKER_05]: Bell strings and forgotten things

[00:11:44] [SPEAKER_05]: by Brian Randall, one of our

[00:11:46] [SPEAKER_05]: besties.

[00:11:47] [SPEAKER_05]: So the Petrity Sisters,

[00:11:49] [SPEAKER_05]: I could be pronouncing every name

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_05]: wrong.

[00:11:51] [SPEAKER_05]: Just go ahead and throw that out

[00:11:52] [SPEAKER_05]: there.

[00:11:53] [SPEAKER_05]: The Petrity Sisters are light

[00:11:55] [SPEAKER_05]: craft witches who are kind of

[00:11:56] [SPEAKER_05]: a task kind of cursed with

[00:11:58] [SPEAKER_05]: protecting the dark oak.

[00:12:00] [SPEAKER_05]: So it's a big tree in the forgotten

[00:12:02] [SPEAKER_05]: forest that's said to hold this

[00:12:04] [SPEAKER_05]: massive terrible power inside after

[00:12:06] [SPEAKER_05]: their mother pretty much abandons them.

[00:12:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Thanks, mom.

[00:12:09] [SPEAKER_05]: So Calliope is our bisexual chaos queen.

[00:12:12] [SPEAKER_03]: I love her already.

[00:12:13] [SPEAKER_05]: She cannot sit still for more

[00:12:14] [SPEAKER_05]: than five and a half seconds.

[00:12:16] [SPEAKER_05]: Like her mind won't sit still.

[00:12:18] [SPEAKER_05]: Her body won't sit still.

[00:12:19] [SPEAKER_05]: She is chaos in the best way.

[00:12:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Thalia is their mother sister.

[00:12:23] [SPEAKER_05]: So she's the oldest.

[00:12:24] [SPEAKER_05]: She's the one who like bosses them

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_05]: around.

[00:12:26] [SPEAKER_05]: She was like an older teenager when

[00:12:28] [SPEAKER_05]: their mom left.

[00:12:29] [SPEAKER_05]: So she took on the role of you have

[00:12:31] [SPEAKER_05]: to get to school, you have homework,

[00:12:32] [SPEAKER_05]: you got to take a bath.

[00:12:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Calliope is the youngest and you

[00:12:35] [SPEAKER_05]: are to see is the middle sister

[00:12:36] [SPEAKER_05]: and she's the peacemaker between

[00:12:37] [SPEAKER_05]: the rules and the chaos.

[00:12:40] [SPEAKER_05]: So they're all adults now and

[00:12:42] [SPEAKER_05]: Calliope is convinced that their

[00:12:44] [SPEAKER_05]: threads of magic that they've

[00:12:46] [SPEAKER_05]: woven around the dark oak is

[00:12:48] [SPEAKER_05]: fraying and Thalia won't hear any

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_05]: of it.

[00:12:50] [SPEAKER_05]: One night drunk and sad after

[00:12:52] [SPEAKER_05]: going to a bar with her best

[00:12:54] [SPEAKER_05]: friend, Dani, Calliope comes to

[00:12:56] [SPEAKER_05]: the Forbidden Forgotten Forest.

[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm sorry.

[00:12:58] [SPEAKER_05]: Comes to the Forgotten Forest,

[00:13:00] [SPEAKER_05]: goes to the dark oak and nearly

[00:13:02] [SPEAKER_05]: kills herself because she notices

[00:13:03] [SPEAKER_05]: damages to their threads, touches

[00:13:06] [SPEAKER_05]: it and is attacked by shadows.

[00:13:08] [SPEAKER_05]: Like this terrible shadow monster

[00:13:10] [SPEAKER_05]: that you end up finding out is

[00:13:12] [SPEAKER_05]: pretty much a race.

[00:13:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Thankfully, Lucian Denise is there.

[00:13:15] [SPEAKER_05]: He's a shadow crafter.

[00:13:17] [SPEAKER_04]: He's a shadow daddy.

[00:13:18] [SPEAKER_05]: And he saves Calliope's life by

[00:13:20] [SPEAKER_05]: accidentally binding her life to

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_05]: his.

[00:13:23] [SPEAKER_05]: So now they have to find a way

[00:13:25] [SPEAKER_05]: to break the stupid bond between

[00:13:27] [SPEAKER_05]: them.

[00:13:28] [SPEAKER_05]: But Lucian also needs the power

[00:13:30] [SPEAKER_05]: within the dark oak that

[00:13:33] [SPEAKER_05]: Calliope and her sisters will die

[00:13:35] [SPEAKER_05]: to protect.

[00:13:37] [SPEAKER_05]: Romance things happen.

[00:13:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Brianna is of course one of

[00:13:40] [SPEAKER_05]: us, one of us, one of us.

[00:13:42] [SPEAKER_05]: So this freaking book proves it.

[00:13:44] [SPEAKER_05]: There was at one point someone had

[00:13:47] [SPEAKER_05]: the air that he is burdened with

[00:13:49] [SPEAKER_05]: glorious purpose.

[00:13:51] [SPEAKER_05]: At one point, one of the sisters

[00:13:53] [SPEAKER_05]: says about another sister,

[00:13:55] [SPEAKER_05]: you have bewitched him body and soul.

[00:13:58] [SPEAKER_05]: That's the face I made

[00:14:00] [SPEAKER_05]: reading this whole book.

[00:14:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like giggling, kicking my

[00:14:03] [SPEAKER_05]: feet.

[00:14:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Like I was so excited finding

[00:14:05] [SPEAKER_05]: these little Easter eggs for

[00:14:07] [SPEAKER_05]: fangirls.

[00:14:08] [SPEAKER_03]: I love her so much.

[00:14:09] [SPEAKER_05]: I know.

[00:14:10] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm like she's one of us.

[00:14:11] [SPEAKER_05]: I freaking loved it.

[00:14:12] [SPEAKER_05]: It was a 10 out of 10.

[00:14:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Anything she touches though I'm

[00:14:15] [SPEAKER_05]: going to love there are recipes at

[00:14:16] [SPEAKER_05]: the end.

[00:14:17] [SPEAKER_05]: Thank God because she's Brianna.

[00:14:21] [SPEAKER_05]: Yep.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah, really good.

[00:14:22] [SPEAKER_05]: But really, really good book.

[00:14:23] [SPEAKER_05]: Everybody go on your TBR.

[00:14:25] [SPEAKER_05]: I think it comes out of March.

[00:14:27] [SPEAKER_03]: March 4th.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_03]: March 4th.

[00:14:28] [SPEAKER_05]: I was thinking March 4th or

[00:14:30] [SPEAKER_05]: February 4th.

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_05]: But yeah, you're right.

[00:14:31] [SPEAKER_03]: It's definitely March.

[00:14:34] [SPEAKER_03]: Four could be wrong, but I

[00:14:35] [SPEAKER_03]: think it's four.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Yeah.

[00:14:36] [SPEAKER_05]: So very, very good book.

[00:14:38] [SPEAKER_05]: And then I've started Angels

[00:14:39] [SPEAKER_05]: and Exorcists by Finley Ray.

[00:14:42] [SPEAKER_05]: But we're going to talk about

[00:14:43] [SPEAKER_05]: that more later.

[00:14:44] [SPEAKER_05]: Yes.

[00:14:45] [SPEAKER_05]: And then I've been hurricane

[00:14:46] [SPEAKER_05]: prepping.

[00:14:48] [SPEAKER_05]: What did you do this week?

[00:14:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Also watched Agatha All Along.

[00:14:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I have watched the third episode,

[00:14:53] [SPEAKER_03]: so I won't say anything about it.

[00:14:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I did write down a note other

[00:14:57] [SPEAKER_03]: than Albioproliza is so damn

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_03]: hot.

[00:14:59] [SPEAKER_03]: There's that scene at the

[00:15:00] [SPEAKER_03]: very end.

[00:15:01] [SPEAKER_03]: This is not a spoiler at all.

[00:15:03] [SPEAKER_03]: It has nothing to do with the

[00:15:04] [SPEAKER_03]: plot at all.

[00:15:05] [SPEAKER_03]: This is just me being very extra.

[00:15:07] [SPEAKER_03]: But there's a scene in the

[00:15:08] [SPEAKER_03]: beginning where I'm

[00:15:10] [SPEAKER_03]: still doing like the cop

[00:15:12] [SPEAKER_03]: procedural part of the episode

[00:15:15] [SPEAKER_03]: where Agatha asks Herb,

[00:15:17] [SPEAKER_03]: she's really dead.

[00:15:18] [SPEAKER_03]: And he says she is most

[00:15:20] [SPEAKER_03]: sincerely dead.

[00:15:21] [SPEAKER_03]: And she says you never know

[00:15:23] [SPEAKER_03]: and gives him a wink.

[00:15:24] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, first of all,

[00:15:25] [SPEAKER_03]: where's it of all his reference?

[00:15:27] [SPEAKER_03]: Second of all, Wanda is not

[00:15:28] [SPEAKER_03]: dead.

[00:15:29] [SPEAKER_03]: That is all I took away from

[00:15:32] [SPEAKER_03]: that line.

[00:15:33] [SPEAKER_03]: And I'm like, that's all,

[00:15:34] [SPEAKER_03]: that's all I need to know.

[00:15:35] [SPEAKER_03]: That's all I needed.

[00:15:36] [SPEAKER_03]: That's what I'm nothing is

[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_03]: going on.

[00:15:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm going to convince me that

[00:15:40] [SPEAKER_03]: Wanda Maximoff is dead.

[00:15:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Nothing on this earth is going

[00:15:45] [SPEAKER_03]: to convince me.

[00:15:46] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm so sorry to anybody who

[00:15:48] [SPEAKER_03]: thinks otherwise, but you're

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_03]: wrong.

[00:15:50] [SPEAKER_03]: You're wrong.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_05]: You can be wrong.

[00:15:51] [SPEAKER_05]: It's fine.

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_03]: You're wrong.

[00:15:52] [SPEAKER_03]: You are welcome to live in

[00:15:54] [SPEAKER_03]: your wrongness, but you're

[00:15:56] [SPEAKER_03]: wrong.

[00:15:58] [SPEAKER_03]: Anyways, I read

[00:16:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Coming Home by Melissa Grace.

[00:16:02] [SPEAKER_03]: This is the fifth and final

[00:16:04] [SPEAKER_03]: book in the Midnight in Dallas

[00:16:06] [SPEAKER_03]: series.

[00:16:07] [SPEAKER_03]: It follows Luca Sterling and

[00:16:08] [SPEAKER_03]: Mackenzie James.

[00:16:09] [SPEAKER_03]: Luca is like the bad boy of

[00:16:12] [SPEAKER_03]: the group.

[00:16:13] [SPEAKER_03]: And he, the book

[00:16:15] [SPEAKER_03]: starts, he plays

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_03]: electric guitar.

[00:16:17] [SPEAKER_03]: Okay.

[00:16:18] [SPEAKER_03]: And he, the book starts off

[00:16:20] [SPEAKER_03]: with him kind of MIA from

[00:16:23] [SPEAKER_03]: everybody.

[00:16:24] [SPEAKER_03]: Like nobody's heard from him

[00:16:25] [SPEAKER_03]: in months and they're like,

[00:16:26] [SPEAKER_03]: oh, it's fine.

[00:16:28] [SPEAKER_03]: This is kind of his thing.

[00:16:29] [SPEAKER_03]: He's traveling, you know,

[00:16:30] [SPEAKER_03]: and sometimes we just don't

[00:16:31] [SPEAKER_03]: hear from him.

[00:16:32] [SPEAKER_03]: And they're kind of like,

[00:16:34] [SPEAKER_03]: well, it's getting, getting

[00:16:35] [SPEAKER_03]: to be a little longer than

[00:16:37] [SPEAKER_03]: usual.

[00:16:38] [SPEAKER_03]: Like this is a little bit more

[00:16:40] [SPEAKER_03]: than, you know, then his usual

[00:16:42] [SPEAKER_03]: shtick.

[00:16:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Turns out Luca has been lying

[00:16:45] [SPEAKER_03]: to everybody and has not been

[00:16:46] [SPEAKER_03]: traveling just been literally

[00:16:48] [SPEAKER_03]: holed up in his apartment, has

[00:16:50] [SPEAKER_03]: not left his apartment in months,

[00:16:52] [SPEAKER_03]: has been just holed up in his

[00:16:54] [SPEAKER_03]: apartment because he's dealing

[00:16:55] [SPEAKER_03]: with the band has broken up.

[00:16:57] [SPEAKER_03]: You know, he's convinced he

[00:16:59] [SPEAKER_03]: is very depressed.

[00:17:00] [SPEAKER_03]: The sweet baby angel is

[00:17:03] [SPEAKER_03]: depressed with a capital D.

[00:17:05] [SPEAKER_03]: And at some point

[00:17:06] [SPEAKER_03]: he goes to bed, his phone's been

[00:17:08] [SPEAKER_03]: dead for however long and

[00:17:10] [SPEAKER_03]: he's just been like whatever.

[00:17:12] [SPEAKER_03]: Nobody cares.

[00:17:13] [SPEAKER_03]: Nobody, you know, they don't need

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_03]: me.

[00:17:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Their lives are better off without

[00:17:16] [SPEAKER_03]: me that kind of like mindset.

[00:17:18] [SPEAKER_03]: So he goes to bed with his

[00:17:20] [SPEAKER_03]: phone like off and under his

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_03]: pillow.

[00:17:22] [SPEAKER_03]: He wakes up to his phone ringing

[00:17:24] [SPEAKER_03]: and he is like, I'm sorry, my

[00:17:26] [SPEAKER_03]: phone's been dead.

[00:17:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I didn't charge it and all of us

[00:17:28] [SPEAKER_03]: and I never powered it on.

[00:17:29] [SPEAKER_05]: All of a sudden it's ringing.

[00:17:30] [SPEAKER_03]: All of a sudden it's ringing.

[00:17:32] [SPEAKER_03]: Clearly it's the universe.

[00:17:33] [SPEAKER_03]: Nothing's convincing me otherwise.

[00:17:35] [SPEAKER_03]: But then he sees like all the

[00:17:36] [SPEAKER_03]: messages and all the voicemails

[00:17:38] [SPEAKER_03]: and he's convinced like it's all

[00:17:39] [SPEAKER_03]: like them like starting to

[00:17:41] [SPEAKER_03]: like reach out in the beginning

[00:17:43] [SPEAKER_03]: and then just like giving up on

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_03]: him.

[00:17:45] [SPEAKER_03]: And it's like, no we miss you

[00:17:46] [SPEAKER_03]: and are you okay?

[00:17:48] [SPEAKER_03]: Like just checking in on him,

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_03]: just checking in.

[00:17:50] [SPEAKER_03]: And he realizes like, oh shit

[00:17:52] [SPEAKER_05]: like they actually like me.

[00:17:54] [SPEAKER_03]: They actually like me.

[00:17:55] [SPEAKER_03]: I should probably and so he

[00:17:57] [SPEAKER_03]: goes to therapy.

[00:17:58] [SPEAKER_03]: We love Luca.

[00:18:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Self-aware king.

[00:18:01] [SPEAKER_03]: Love him so much.

[00:18:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Meanwhile, you've got Mackenzie

[00:18:05] [SPEAKER_03]: who is one of the

[00:18:08] [SPEAKER_03]: she like, I think she's a

[00:18:10] [SPEAKER_03]: manager or something

[00:18:12] [SPEAKER_03]: at Katie's kitchen, which is

[00:18:14] [SPEAKER_03]: one of the other main

[00:18:15] [SPEAKER_03]: female main characters, a little

[00:18:17] [SPEAKER_03]: big shop restaurant kind of thing.

[00:18:19] [SPEAKER_03]: And she is dealing

[00:18:21] [SPEAKER_03]: with her own kind of grief.

[00:18:24] [SPEAKER_03]: It's the

[00:18:25] [SPEAKER_03]: 15 year anniversary

[00:18:27] [SPEAKER_03]: of We Find Out and

[00:18:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I guess this is like slight spoilers,

[00:18:32] [SPEAKER_03]: but the death of her

[00:18:34] [SPEAKER_03]: her brother and it's the 15

[00:18:36] [SPEAKER_03]: year anniversary and it's

[00:18:38] [SPEAKER_03]: not just a death.

[00:18:39] [SPEAKER_03]: There's more to it, which

[00:18:40] [SPEAKER_03]: is revealed later on through the story.

[00:18:43] [SPEAKER_03]: And so it's just really hitting her hard

[00:18:45] [SPEAKER_03]: and huge and she's

[00:18:47] [SPEAKER_03]: part of a grief group and they're trying

[00:18:48] [SPEAKER_03]: to be like, hey, you know, let's

[00:18:50] [SPEAKER_03]: spend time together and, you know,

[00:18:52] [SPEAKER_03]: and her mom usually she spends time with

[00:18:54] [SPEAKER_03]: her mom on that day on the anniversary

[00:18:56] [SPEAKER_03]: but her mom's gotten this really

[00:18:58] [SPEAKER_03]: great opportunity to go to

[00:18:59] [SPEAKER_03]: Italy. It's like a once in a lifetime

[00:19:01] [SPEAKER_03]: opportunity. It's completely

[00:19:03] [SPEAKER_03]: paid for and everything. Oh my God.

[00:19:06] [SPEAKER_03]: Yeah. And so Mackenzie is like,

[00:19:08] [SPEAKER_03]: you have to go. Like, yeah, I would

[00:19:09] [SPEAKER_05]: keep my mom's ass if she didn't go. She

[00:19:11] [SPEAKER_03]: was like, you need to go. Like he would

[00:19:13] [SPEAKER_03]: he would want you to go. He would want

[00:19:15] [SPEAKER_03]: you to be happy. I'll be fine.

[00:19:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I'll be fine. You need to go do this.

[00:19:19] [SPEAKER_03]: And so she really she really ends up

[00:19:21] [SPEAKER_03]: struggling and that

[00:19:23] [SPEAKER_03]: is kind of when they

[00:19:25] [SPEAKER_03]: Mackenzie and Luca kind of come together

[00:19:27] [SPEAKER_03]: and start their

[00:19:29] [SPEAKER_03]: friendship and it's kind of it's a slow burn

[00:19:31] [SPEAKER_03]: where they kind of go from

[00:19:33] [SPEAKER_03]: strangers to friends to lovers

[00:19:35] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's just it's

[00:19:37] [SPEAKER_03]: so good. I cried the

[00:19:39] [SPEAKER_03]: entire book, literally the entire

[00:19:41] [SPEAKER_03]: book and I knew going into it that this

[00:19:43] [SPEAKER_03]: one was gonna be the hardest one for

[00:19:45] [SPEAKER_03]: me to read just because one

[00:19:47] [SPEAKER_03]: Luca is my favorite character in

[00:19:49] [SPEAKER_03]: the whole series and two

[00:19:51] [SPEAKER_03]: like I knew going in that this

[00:19:53] [SPEAKER_03]: was gonna be about depression and grief

[00:19:55] [SPEAKER_03]: which is hard enough as it is, you

[00:19:57] [SPEAKER_03]: know? Oh yeah. I'm literally

[00:19:59] [SPEAKER_03]: reading this in September

[00:20:01] [SPEAKER_03]: which is a hard enough grief and depression

[00:20:03] [SPEAKER_03]: month for me period.

[00:20:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I've got my own anniversary to deal with

[00:20:07] [SPEAKER_03]: and so yeah, I was just like

[00:20:09] [SPEAKER_03]: texting Melissa like

[00:20:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I love you but I hate you so much

[00:20:13] [SPEAKER_03]: but it is so

[00:20:15] [SPEAKER_03]: good like 10 out of 10 no

[00:20:17] [SPEAKER_03]: notes. It is the perfect

[00:20:19] [SPEAKER_03]: way to wrap up the series and

[00:20:21] [SPEAKER_03]: kind of say goodbye to all

[00:20:23] [SPEAKER_03]: these characters that you have loved for

[00:20:25] [SPEAKER_03]: five books now

[00:20:27] [SPEAKER_03]: and yeah it was just

[00:20:29] [SPEAKER_03]: it was everything. I loved

[00:20:31] [SPEAKER_03]: it so much and

[00:20:33] [SPEAKER_03]: I was talking to Melissa and she's

[00:20:35] [SPEAKER_03]: people, you know, of course people love the

[00:20:37] [SPEAKER_03]: universe and they're just like hey, you know

[00:20:39] [SPEAKER_03]: like do you ever think you'll ever visit it

[00:20:41] [SPEAKER_03]: or you'll like do little not novellas

[00:20:43] [SPEAKER_03]: or anything of any of the side characters

[00:20:45] [SPEAKER_03]: and she said it and I

[00:20:47] [SPEAKER_03]: agree with her like the series

[00:20:49] [SPEAKER_03]: feels complete like it feels

[00:20:51] [SPEAKER_03]: like everything that needed to happen

[00:20:53] [SPEAKER_03]: happened and adding

[00:20:55] [SPEAKER_03]: to it would kind of in a sense

[00:20:57] [SPEAKER_03]: detrimental to the

[00:20:59] [SPEAKER_03]: story as a whole like it would take away

[00:21:01] [SPEAKER_03]: from everything that happened and so

[00:21:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I think even though I'm sad

[00:21:05] [SPEAKER_03]: to be away from my babies

[00:21:07] [SPEAKER_03]: you know it is a

[00:21:09] [SPEAKER_03]: complete story so I just

[00:21:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I loved it so much

[00:21:13] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like I need to go buy stocking

[00:21:15] [SPEAKER_03]: Kleenex I'm just like

[00:21:17] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah

[00:21:18] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah literally like cried the whole

[00:21:20] [SPEAKER_03]: book but it's so good I loved it

[00:21:22] [SPEAKER_03]: I loved it so much and then I read

[00:21:24] [SPEAKER_03]: demons and museums by

[00:21:26] [SPEAKER_03]: Finley right which is the little like novella

[00:21:28] [SPEAKER_03]: novelette prior to angels

[00:21:30] [SPEAKER_03]: and exorcists it is the

[00:21:32] [SPEAKER_03]: perfect little small bite

[00:21:34] [SPEAKER_03]: to like get you

[00:21:36] [SPEAKER_03]: prepped for this series

[00:21:38] [SPEAKER_03]: it is fully

[00:21:40] [SPEAKER_03]: a prequel it is set

[00:21:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I think 20 some odd years

[00:21:44] [SPEAKER_03]: before angels and exorcists

[00:21:46] [SPEAKER_03]: so the main character in angels

[00:21:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and exorcist we've got is Mary

[00:21:50] [SPEAKER_03]: Mariam and so we get to see her

[00:21:52] [SPEAKER_03]: as a teeny tiny little baby

[00:21:54] [SPEAKER_03]: and I was

[00:21:55] [SPEAKER_03]: very upset at Finn because

[00:21:58] [SPEAKER_03]: I was just like how are you going to

[00:22:00] [SPEAKER_03]: make me fall head over heels

[00:22:02] [SPEAKER_03]: in love with this tiny little baby

[00:22:04] [SPEAKER_03]: and then she's a full grown

[00:22:06] [SPEAKER_03]: adult

[00:22:08] [SPEAKER_03]: how dare you suddenly

[00:22:10] [SPEAKER_03]: I deal with I deal

[00:22:12] [SPEAKER_03]: with this in my own life my child

[00:22:14] [SPEAKER_03]: is no longer a teeny tiny

[00:22:16] [SPEAKER_03]: child and you're going to make me deal with it

[00:22:18] [SPEAKER_03]: in my fictional life too

[00:22:20] [SPEAKER_03]: like how rude so

[00:22:22] [SPEAKER_03]: rude but it is

[00:22:24] [SPEAKER_03]: it really is like the perfect

[00:22:26] [SPEAKER_03]: intro perfect tiny bite

[00:22:28] [SPEAKER_03]: to get you started and it gives like a good

[00:22:30] [SPEAKER_03]: sense of Finn's writing style

[00:22:32] [SPEAKER_03]: as well as just what you can

[00:22:34] [SPEAKER_03]: expect from the series

[00:22:36] [SPEAKER_03]: and I think if you know

[00:22:38] [SPEAKER_03]: I know people are like sometimes

[00:22:40] [SPEAKER_03]: hesitant to start reading a new

[00:22:42] [SPEAKER_03]: author especially a brand new indie

[00:22:44] [SPEAKER_03]: author so I love that

[00:22:46] [SPEAKER_03]: he did this to kind of put it

[00:22:48] [SPEAKER_03]: out into the world and it's like hey you can

[00:22:50] [SPEAKER_03]: you can just get a quick little

[00:22:52] [SPEAKER_03]: peak and it's not a super long

[00:22:54] [SPEAKER_03]: commitment of time either

[00:22:56] [SPEAKER_03]: it's like less than 100 pages

[00:22:58] [SPEAKER_03]: you can get through that so quickly and then

[00:23:00] [SPEAKER_03]: you know whether or not you want to continue

[00:23:02] [SPEAKER_03]: on and I personally do want to continue

[00:23:04] [SPEAKER_03]: on and I kind of need

[00:23:05] [SPEAKER_03]: these books to be injected into my brain

[00:23:08] [SPEAKER_03]: stream as soon as possible so

[00:23:10] [SPEAKER_03]: that's where we're at with that

[00:23:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I finished this will be fun by E.B.

[00:23:14] [SPEAKER_03]: Asher I adored it

[00:23:15] [SPEAKER_03]: it was it was definitely

[00:23:17] [SPEAKER_03]: slow going at the beginning

[00:23:19] [SPEAKER_03]: for me it was a lot of

[00:23:21] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know

[00:23:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't know what it was about it it just was like

[00:23:25] [SPEAKER_03]: there was just a lot going on in the beginning

[00:23:27] [SPEAKER_03]: that also felt like not a lot

[00:23:29] [SPEAKER_03]: was going on in the beginning

[00:23:31] [SPEAKER_03]: but like I think

[00:23:33] [SPEAKER_03]: once I hit that 50% mark I was just like

[00:23:35] [SPEAKER_03]: okay like I'm really

[00:23:37] [SPEAKER_03]: digging this like I'm really

[00:23:39] [SPEAKER_03]: into this and I had

[00:23:41] [SPEAKER_03]: some like expectations of how

[00:23:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I thought it would end

[00:23:45] [SPEAKER_03]: and it kind of hit

[00:23:47] [SPEAKER_03]: those expectations but at the same time in a way

[00:23:50] [SPEAKER_03]: that I wasn't expecting

[00:23:51] [SPEAKER_05]: which I love yeah

[00:23:53] [SPEAKER_03]: it's like oh this is how the book is going to

[00:23:55] [SPEAKER_03]: end and then and this is how they're going to get

[00:23:57] [SPEAKER_03]: to it but then it's like surprise that's

[00:23:59] [SPEAKER_03]: not actually how we get there

[00:24:00] [SPEAKER_05]: we do

[00:24:02] [SPEAKER_05]: what?

[00:24:03] [SPEAKER_03]: I really enjoyed it so yeah

[00:24:05] [SPEAKER_03]: it was definitely it was one of those

[00:24:07] [SPEAKER_03]: it was one of those moments where it's like

[00:24:10] [SPEAKER_03]: people always talk about like this

[00:24:11] [SPEAKER_03]: this book has this moment where

[00:24:13] [SPEAKER_03]: it turned my four star into a five star

[00:24:15] [SPEAKER_03]: like that's kind of how it felt like that

[00:24:18] [SPEAKER_03]: little twist to it made me look like

[00:24:20] [SPEAKER_03]: okay okay this pumps it up a little bit

[00:24:22] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah so yeah

[00:24:24] [SPEAKER_03]: I really enjoyed it and then

[00:24:26] [SPEAKER_03]: I started Angels and Exorcists

[00:24:28] [SPEAKER_03]: by Finley Ray

[00:24:30] [SPEAKER_03]: which we will be talking about momentarily

[00:24:31] [SPEAKER_03]: so I'm not going to say anything more about it

[00:24:34] [SPEAKER_05]: I like that plan

[00:24:35] [SPEAKER_03]: that is that was my week

[00:24:37] [SPEAKER_03]: I think that was everything that's everything I've written down

[00:24:40] [SPEAKER_03]: so we'll go with it

[00:24:41] [SPEAKER_05]: I just remembered I did my Kindle

[00:24:43] [SPEAKER_03]: oh yeah you did it's so pretty

[00:24:45] [SPEAKER_05]: got Mr. Darcy's hand

[00:24:46] [SPEAKER_05]: that's Aaron Warner quote

[00:24:48] [SPEAKER_03]: of course you do

[00:24:50] [SPEAKER_03]: do you have a fictional boyfriend this week?

[00:25:00] [SPEAKER_03]: if I did

[00:25:02] [SPEAKER_03]: not say Luca Sterling

[00:25:04] [SPEAKER_03]: I have been body snatched

[00:25:06] [SPEAKER_03]: that man has been the love

[00:25:08] [SPEAKER_03]: of my life for five books

[00:25:11] [SPEAKER_03]: he has not once

[00:25:12] [SPEAKER_03]: been the star of his own

[00:25:14] [SPEAKER_03]: story and has been

[00:25:16] [SPEAKER_03]: the love of my life

[00:25:18] [SPEAKER_03]: for five full

[00:25:20] [SPEAKER_03]: books did I love the other couples

[00:25:22] [SPEAKER_03]: sure did I love Luca

[00:25:24] [SPEAKER_03]: more absolutely

[00:25:26] [SPEAKER_05]: the whole time

[00:25:28] [SPEAKER_03]: I understand that this is your

[00:25:30] [SPEAKER_03]: story and this is about your love story

[00:25:32] [SPEAKER_03]: but where's Luca?

[00:25:34] [SPEAKER_05]: what's he doing?

[00:25:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I just

[00:25:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I think his character arc

[00:25:40] [SPEAKER_03]: from book one to book five

[00:25:42] [SPEAKER_03]: is just so dynamic

[00:25:44] [SPEAKER_03]: and so wonderful

[00:25:45] [SPEAKER_03]: you see him in book one

[00:25:48] [SPEAKER_03]: and you're like this guy

[00:25:50] [SPEAKER_03]: the fuck is wrong with this guy

[00:25:53] [SPEAKER_03]: but at the same time

[00:25:54] [SPEAKER_03]: you're like I love him

[00:25:55] [SPEAKER_03]: at least I was

[00:25:56] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like I love him

[00:25:58] [SPEAKER_03]: it really was

[00:25:59] [SPEAKER_03]: if I brought home Luca Sterling

[00:26:02] [SPEAKER_03]: from book one it would definitely be

[00:26:04] [SPEAKER_03]: but daddy I love him situation

[00:26:06] [SPEAKER_03]: where it's like what are you

[00:26:08] [SPEAKER_03]: doing with this

[00:26:10] [SPEAKER_03]: miscreant

[00:26:13] [SPEAKER_03]: but like going

[00:26:14] [SPEAKER_03]: all the way to book five

[00:26:16] [SPEAKER_03]: and book five Luca you've got

[00:26:18] [SPEAKER_03]: this is truly the man

[00:26:20] [SPEAKER_03]: that you want to bring home to your parents

[00:26:22] [SPEAKER_03]: and he doesn't lose

[00:26:24] [SPEAKER_03]: any part of him

[00:26:26] [SPEAKER_03]: he just grows

[00:26:28] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's so just

[00:26:30] [SPEAKER_03]: I love this man so much

[00:26:32] [SPEAKER_03]: I love him so so much

[00:26:34] [SPEAKER_03]: it was so funny because before

[00:26:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I think before she started

[00:26:38] [SPEAKER_03]: writing book five it might have been

[00:26:40] [SPEAKER_03]: when she was writing book three

[00:26:42] [SPEAKER_03]: maybe three or four

[00:26:43] [SPEAKER_03]: if you want to name

[00:26:46] [SPEAKER_03]: Luca's love interest

[00:26:48] [SPEAKER_03]: after somebody

[00:26:50] [SPEAKER_03]: you might know

[00:26:51] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean

[00:26:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I would not be opposed to that

[00:26:56] [SPEAKER_03]: and she's like you've already met her

[00:26:58] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like damn it Melissa

[00:27:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I should have gotten to you sooner

[00:27:02] [SPEAKER_03]: but that is how much

[00:27:05] [SPEAKER_03]: I love that man

[00:27:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm like I please write me into the book

[00:27:08] [SPEAKER_03]: as his love interest

[00:27:09] [SPEAKER_03]: because I love this man so much

[00:27:11] [SPEAKER_03]: so yes my fictional boyfriend for this week

[00:27:14] [SPEAKER_03]: is Luca Sterling

[00:27:15] [SPEAKER_03]: how about you? Love it

[00:27:17] [SPEAKER_05]: mine is Lucian Deniz

[00:27:20] [SPEAKER_05]: I forgot to mention how

[00:27:21] [SPEAKER_05]: diverse this book is

[00:27:24] [SPEAKER_05]: there's so many different cultures

[00:27:25] [SPEAKER_05]: it really shows how much Brianne has traveled

[00:27:28] [SPEAKER_05]: like she's talked about it with us

[00:27:30] [SPEAKER_05]: before how she traveled

[00:27:31] [SPEAKER_05]: the world so Lucian is

[00:27:33] [SPEAKER_05]: half Turkish, half French

[00:27:35] [SPEAKER_05]: so he speaks like

[00:27:37] [SPEAKER_05]: seven languages and then

[00:27:39] [SPEAKER_05]: Calliope and her sisters are Greek

[00:27:41] [SPEAKER_05]: but there are so many different cultures

[00:27:43] [SPEAKER_05]: even outside of theirs that they meet and interact with

[00:27:45] [SPEAKER_05]: anyways I pictured him

[00:27:47] [SPEAKER_05]: does this ever happen to you when you're reading a book

[00:27:49] [SPEAKER_05]: where like you're picturing one person

[00:27:51] [SPEAKER_05]: and then it changes

[00:27:53] [SPEAKER_05]: and it kind of flip flops back and forth

[00:27:54] [SPEAKER_05]: so most of the book I pictured

[00:27:57] [SPEAKER_05]: Navin Andrews

[00:28:00] [SPEAKER_05]: it's Syed from Lost

[00:28:01] [SPEAKER_05]: Jonas from Sensei

[00:28:03] [SPEAKER_04]: I was like what do you mean? I watched Lost

[00:28:05] [SPEAKER_04]: religiously of course I know who he is

[00:28:07] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah Syed was my favorite

[00:28:09] [SPEAKER_05]: my favorite character on Lost

[00:28:11] [SPEAKER_05]: but then sometimes

[00:28:13] [SPEAKER_05]: Justin Baldoni came in

[00:28:14] [SPEAKER_04]: okay okay

[00:28:16] [SPEAKER_04]: I can see that

[00:28:18] [SPEAKER_04]: he's a perv

[00:28:19] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah yeah yeah

[00:28:20] [SPEAKER_05]: it's fine

[00:28:21] [SPEAKER_05]: and he talks like Mr. Darcy

[00:28:24] [SPEAKER_05]: kind of but with a French

[00:28:26] [SPEAKER_05]: tone but then if he cast spells

[00:28:28] [SPEAKER_05]: it's in Turkish

[00:28:31] [SPEAKER_05]: and he's a

[00:28:32] [SPEAKER_05]: shadow character so he's out here

[00:28:34] [SPEAKER_05]: wielding shadows which we all know

[00:28:36] [SPEAKER_03]: shadow daddy

[00:28:37] [SPEAKER_05]: we love a shadow daddy

[00:28:40] [SPEAKER_05]: I love a shadow daddy

[00:28:41] [SPEAKER_05]: if I ever

[00:28:43] [SPEAKER_05]: am reading like give my list of what I did

[00:28:45] [SPEAKER_05]: this week and the shadow daddy

[00:28:47] [SPEAKER_05]: is not the book boyfriend

[00:28:49] [SPEAKER_05]: it's not me

[00:28:51] [SPEAKER_03]: body snatched

[00:28:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I was going to make a joke

[00:28:55] [SPEAKER_03]: when you said it, you said that Calliope

[00:28:57] [SPEAKER_03]: and her sisters were Greek and I'm like

[00:28:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I wasn't supposed to figure that out just by their names

[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_04]: right

[00:29:02] [SPEAKER_03]: that's just what I used to do

[00:29:04] [SPEAKER_03]: those are very very Greek

[00:29:07] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah I love it

[00:29:09] [SPEAKER_05]: and he calls her little muse because she's named after

[00:29:11] [SPEAKER_05]: they're all named after her music

[00:29:12] [SPEAKER_05]: right right

[00:29:14] [SPEAKER_05]: oh my god

[00:29:16] [SPEAKER_05]: the man's got a filthy mouth from the start

[00:29:19] [SPEAKER_05]: he's like

[00:29:20] [SPEAKER_05]: almighty man give us a break

[00:29:22] [SPEAKER_05]: oh my god don't give us a break

[00:29:25] [SPEAKER_03]: we don't want to break no not really

[00:29:27] [SPEAKER_03]: I love it so yeah

[00:29:28] [SPEAKER_05]: excellent choice, Lucien, Deniz, Deniz

[00:29:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I don't really know how she wants us to pronounce that

[00:29:33] [SPEAKER_05]: we're gonna beg her to come on the podcast

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_05]: again

[00:29:35] [SPEAKER_05]: find out in the fine print

[00:29:37] [SPEAKER_03]: February slash March

[00:29:39] [SPEAKER_03]: find out next year

[00:29:41] [SPEAKER_03]: early next year

[00:29:42] [SPEAKER_03]: well no

[00:29:44] [SPEAKER_03]: that sound means we have an intruder alert

[00:29:52] [SPEAKER_05]: oh my gosh when the intruder is our friend

[00:29:54] [SPEAKER_05]: it's even more fun

[00:29:55] [SPEAKER_03]: it hits different

[00:29:57] [SPEAKER_03]: so we are introducing y'all to our dear dear friend

[00:30:00] [SPEAKER_03]: Finley Ray who is the author of

[00:30:03] [SPEAKER_03]: Angels and Exorcists look at that

[00:30:04] [SPEAKER_03]: it's so pretty welcome

[00:30:06] [SPEAKER_03]: welcome I'm so excited to talk about this

[00:30:08] [SPEAKER_03]: so what we normally do is

[00:30:10] [SPEAKER_03]: we start off asking our authors

[00:30:12] [SPEAKER_03]: to give us like an elevator pitch of the book

[00:30:14] [SPEAKER_03]: for anybody who hasn't heard about it

[00:30:15] [SPEAKER_00]: yes hello I am Finley Ray

[00:30:17] [SPEAKER_00]: I wrote Angels and Exorcists

[00:30:20] [SPEAKER_00]: and it is essentially a very gay episode

[00:30:22] [SPEAKER_00]: of Supernatural

[00:30:24] [SPEAKER_00]: that's the best way I can really

[00:30:27] [SPEAKER_00]: in 30 seconds

[00:30:28] [SPEAKER_00]: that's the best I can do

[00:30:30] [SPEAKER_04]: perfect

[00:30:31] [SPEAKER_04]: Karen watch can't roll you and I'm really sorry

[00:30:34] [SPEAKER_04]: that was

[00:30:35] [SPEAKER_04]: I was not prepared for that

[00:30:37] [SPEAKER_04]: and then it's so accurate and I love it so much

[00:30:41] [SPEAKER_05]: can I tell you how dumb

[00:30:43] [SPEAKER_05]: I am though because I

[00:30:44] [SPEAKER_05]: like literally live and breathe for Supernatural

[00:30:46] [SPEAKER_05]: and when I started reading

[00:30:48] [SPEAKER_05]: I was like oh my gosh this is like if there was a fun

[00:30:50] [SPEAKER_05]: version of evil

[00:30:52] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't know if you've guys seen this show

[00:30:54] [SPEAKER_05]: thank you that is actually

[00:30:55] [SPEAKER_05]: I think more accurate

[00:30:59] [SPEAKER_05]: no but it is like a fun episode of

[00:31:01] [SPEAKER_05]: I mean it's like a gay episode of

[00:31:03] [SPEAKER_05]: Supernatural

[00:31:04] [SPEAKER_03]: oh my gosh it's like

[00:31:05] [SPEAKER_00]: oh my god it is evil I totally

[00:31:07] [SPEAKER_00]: did not I forgot about that show

[00:31:09] [SPEAKER_03]: it's like if evil and Supernatural

[00:31:11] [SPEAKER_03]: had a baby and it was very gay

[00:31:13] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah I like this

[00:31:15] [SPEAKER_03]: I like this this is

[00:31:16] [SPEAKER_03]: I think that's gonna sell a lot of books

[00:31:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I feel like this is gonna be great

[00:31:22] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm really excited

[00:31:23] [SPEAKER_04]: how we do it

[00:31:26] [SPEAKER_03]: this is how the

[00:31:27] [SPEAKER_03]: the goodness comes out of the chaos

[00:31:29] [SPEAKER_03]: see sometimes sometimes our chaos

[00:31:31] [SPEAKER_03]: does things

[00:31:34] [SPEAKER_01]: oh my god

[00:31:35] [SPEAKER_01]: but that on a trigger

[00:31:36] [SPEAKER_05]: sometimes it's awesome

[00:31:39] [SPEAKER_05]: okay so it follows

[00:31:41] [SPEAKER_05]: Mariam who is with her

[00:31:43] [SPEAKER_05]: godfather

[00:31:45] [SPEAKER_05]: Zachary and they

[00:31:46] [SPEAKER_05]: Zachary is a exorcist

[00:31:49] [SPEAKER_05]: I feel like I haven't finished because

[00:31:51] [SPEAKER_05]: I've been in tornado I'm in a hurricane prep

[00:31:53] [SPEAKER_05]: I feel like he's got more

[00:31:55] [SPEAKER_05]: of a back more of a something going on

[00:31:57] [SPEAKER_05]: than I realize yet not in a

[00:31:59] [SPEAKER_05]: negative way

[00:32:02] [SPEAKER_05]: I just feel like

[00:32:03] [SPEAKER_05]: there's he's got something in his past

[00:32:05] [SPEAKER_05]: that I'm gonna be upset about

[00:32:07] [SPEAKER_00]: oh absolutely have you read the

[00:32:09] [SPEAKER_00]: shorter one

[00:32:10] [SPEAKER_00]: she hasn't read the little one so she doesn't know

[00:32:13] [SPEAKER_00]: I was out of order

[00:32:16] [SPEAKER_00]: that's totally fine you can definitely

[00:32:17] [SPEAKER_00]: read them in either order but yeah you're gonna be upset

[00:32:19] [SPEAKER_00]: sorry

[00:32:21] [SPEAKER_05]: oh no my feeling

[00:32:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean it's fine

[00:32:28] [SPEAKER_03]: the backstory is there I get it

[00:32:30] [SPEAKER_03]: but yeah

[00:32:31] [SPEAKER_03]: so where did the idea come from

[00:32:34] [SPEAKER_03]: for the story in this series

[00:32:36] [SPEAKER_00]: so it started back I think

[00:32:38] [SPEAKER_00]: like 2009 I was watching

[00:32:40] [SPEAKER_00]: Ghost Adventures because

[00:32:42] [SPEAKER_00]: it's a comfort show for me

[00:32:44] [SPEAKER_00]: which is probably very weird but growing up

[00:32:46] [SPEAKER_00]: that's what me and my mom and my sister

[00:32:48] [SPEAKER_00]: always watched that or Ghost Hunters

[00:32:50] [SPEAKER_00]: that was just Sunday night we all got together

[00:32:52] [SPEAKER_00]: and watched the really dumb show

[00:32:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and it's great I love it

[00:32:55] [SPEAKER_00]: I can predict the pattern

[00:32:57] [SPEAKER_00]: of just like how it's gonna go

[00:32:59] [SPEAKER_00]: and it's very comforting and I was kind of thinking

[00:33:01] [SPEAKER_00]: there's not really any girl ghost

[00:33:03] [SPEAKER_00]: hunters like you'll have mediums

[00:33:05] [SPEAKER_00]: but you don't really have a lot of shows

[00:33:07] [SPEAKER_00]: where the girls are going into

[00:33:09] [SPEAKER_00]: place and be like dude bro did you see that

[00:33:11] [SPEAKER_00]: oh my god

[00:33:12] [SPEAKER_00]: come at me ghost

[00:33:15] [SPEAKER_00]: Harry go in there

[00:33:17] [SPEAKER_00]: except it's E R I N

[00:33:19] [SPEAKER_00]: you don't have a lot of that

[00:33:21] [SPEAKER_00]: so I kind of that's where it started

[00:33:23] [SPEAKER_00]: and then life took

[00:33:25] [SPEAKER_00]: me on a lot of very

[00:33:27] [SPEAKER_00]: very strange rabbit or like

[00:33:29] [SPEAKER_00]: paths and so that's my

[00:33:31] [SPEAKER_00]: and so I ended up using it kind of as

[00:33:33] [SPEAKER_00]: a way to process some

[00:33:35] [SPEAKER_00]: religious trauma and now it is what

[00:33:37] [SPEAKER_00]: it is today so and that's

[00:33:39] [SPEAKER_00]: where we are so I was going to say

[00:33:41] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm from the south and I already am

[00:33:43] [SPEAKER_05]: having some of my religious trauma healed

[00:33:45] [SPEAKER_05]: a little bit because like I grew

[00:33:47] [SPEAKER_05]: up in it too like where it's like they

[00:33:49] [SPEAKER_05]: tell you do this follow the

[00:33:51] [SPEAKER_05]: word but then when you do it as an adult

[00:33:53] [SPEAKER_05]: they're like that's socialism

[00:33:55] [SPEAKER_05]: what do you mean

[00:33:57] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah absolutely

[00:33:59] [SPEAKER_00]: was a theory was just this

[00:34:01] [SPEAKER_00]: hippie communists who took a whip

[00:34:03] [SPEAKER_00]: the people in the temple and I think we forget that

[00:34:05] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot yeah

[00:34:07] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah he would have flipped

[00:34:09] [SPEAKER_05]: tables at the way I'll act

[00:34:11] [SPEAKER_01]: 100%

[00:34:12] [SPEAKER_01]: so what's it like having to like

[00:34:14] [SPEAKER_05]: what's it like having to like filter

[00:34:16] [SPEAKER_05]: through that trauma knowing that so

[00:34:19] [SPEAKER_05]: many other people are going to relate to it

[00:34:20] [SPEAKER_05]: and make it into a story

[00:34:22] [SPEAKER_05]: that is fun and funny at the same

[00:34:24] [SPEAKER_00]: time so I it definitely

[00:34:26] [SPEAKER_00]: helps because there's definitely times when I

[00:34:28] [SPEAKER_00]: worry about marketability of it

[00:34:30] [SPEAKER_00]: because like we said it is it's very gay

[00:34:32] [SPEAKER_00]: very queer so I do

[00:34:34] [SPEAKER_00]: worry about that sometimes and so

[00:34:36] [SPEAKER_00]: bringing in that religious trauma

[00:34:38] [SPEAKER_00]: aspect of it and just having Maryam work

[00:34:40] [SPEAKER_00]: through a lot of the stuff I went through and a more

[00:34:43] [SPEAKER_00]: fantastical fantasy

[00:34:44] [SPEAKER_00]: sort of way kind of comforts me

[00:34:46] [SPEAKER_00]: and it both in that like I'm not alone

[00:34:48] [SPEAKER_00]: in those experiences because when you're going through

[00:34:51] [SPEAKER_00]: them they can be very ugly and you don't really

[00:34:53] [SPEAKER_00]: find out that everyone was kind of

[00:34:54] [SPEAKER_00]: there faking it along with you until you're an adult

[00:34:57] [SPEAKER_00]: though you're all it's very isolating

[00:34:58] [SPEAKER_00]: but also it's very nice to know

[00:35:00] [SPEAKER_00]: that I can hopefully provide

[00:35:02] [SPEAKER_00]: an outlet for other people to kind of

[00:35:04] [SPEAKER_00]: work through that and be like oh shit

[00:35:06] [SPEAKER_00]: like I was I went through that like that's what

[00:35:08] [SPEAKER_00]: that was so yeah

[00:35:12] [SPEAKER_00]: exactly the fun part

[00:35:13] [SPEAKER_00]: the fun part comes from just I

[00:35:15] [SPEAKER_00]: get a lot of joy out of just making

[00:35:17] [SPEAKER_00]: people laugh making

[00:35:18] [SPEAKER_00]: people smile because the world is on fire

[00:35:21] [SPEAKER_00]: and I can only

[00:35:23] [SPEAKER_00]: do so much about it but I can at least

[00:35:25] [SPEAKER_00]: you know put Twilight references

[00:35:27] [SPEAKER_00]: in my books

[00:35:29] [SPEAKER_04]: the way that I cackled

[00:35:32] [SPEAKER_05]: easy breezy

[00:35:33] [SPEAKER_05]: beautiful cover band

[00:35:35] [SPEAKER_04]: that was that's one of the few things

[00:35:37] [SPEAKER_04]: that I've seen

[00:35:38] [SPEAKER_04]: oh my gosh

[00:35:40] [SPEAKER_03]: all the references

[00:35:43] [SPEAKER_03]: that I have kind of crossed

[00:35:44] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm just I'm like

[00:35:47] [SPEAKER_03]: the fact that I'm not still

[00:35:48] [SPEAKER_03]: just laughing and not able to

[00:35:51] [SPEAKER_03]: breathe is a miracle

[00:35:52] [SPEAKER_03]: in and of itself so as somebody

[00:35:54] [SPEAKER_03]: who did not grow up

[00:35:56] [SPEAKER_03]: religious at all

[00:35:58] [SPEAKER_03]: especially not in like any

[00:36:00] [SPEAKER_03]: sort of Christianity it's

[00:36:02] [SPEAKER_03]: interesting for me to read it

[00:36:04] [SPEAKER_03]: and go into it realize like

[00:36:06] [SPEAKER_03]: I think there's something special about

[00:36:08] [SPEAKER_03]: the way that you're able to

[00:36:10] [SPEAKER_03]: write to a specific

[00:36:12] [SPEAKER_03]: audience like people who are going

[00:36:15] [SPEAKER_03]: through the the religious trauma

[00:36:16] [SPEAKER_03]: but also it appeals

[00:36:18] [SPEAKER_03]: to people who don't have that same

[00:36:21] [SPEAKER_03]: kind of attachment

[00:36:22] [SPEAKER_03]: to it and so I'm curious

[00:36:24] [SPEAKER_03]: to kind of like understand

[00:36:27] [SPEAKER_03]: the writing process

[00:36:28] [SPEAKER_03]: and how you

[00:36:30] [SPEAKER_03]: manage to balance I don't know

[00:36:32] [SPEAKER_03]: like I don't know what I'm trying to say

[00:36:35] [SPEAKER_03]: I lost it

[00:36:36] [SPEAKER_00]: having one foot in that religious

[00:36:38] [SPEAKER_00]: studying

[00:36:39] [SPEAKER_00]: and then I kind of moved out so

[00:36:40] [SPEAKER_04]: yeah that's

[00:36:42] [SPEAKER_04]: I'm really like there's not a lot

[00:36:45] [SPEAKER_04]: going on up here guys

[00:36:46] [SPEAKER_00]: no you're good it's fun

[00:36:48] [SPEAKER_00]: I've had a week so I'm right there with you

[00:36:50] [SPEAKER_00]: I guess I didn't really realize I was balancing

[00:36:52] [SPEAKER_00]: that and it's it's encouraging to hear

[00:36:54] [SPEAKER_00]: that I am because I think if you do

[00:36:57] [SPEAKER_00]: grow up in that setting

[00:36:58] [SPEAKER_00]: like it was traumatizing but there is a lot

[00:37:00] [SPEAKER_00]: of good that came of that too

[00:37:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I think it gave me community in a time

[00:37:04] [SPEAKER_00]: that was very turbulent in my life

[00:37:06] [SPEAKER_00]: regardless of like what me and my mom

[00:37:08] [SPEAKER_00]: we've kind of butt heads over the years

[00:37:10] [SPEAKER_00]: because she thought it was a good thing that we're so

[00:37:12] [SPEAKER_00]: active in church I mean my sister like no

[00:37:14] [SPEAKER_00]: there's some weird not good stuff

[00:37:16] [SPEAKER_00]: going on and I under and it's

[00:37:18] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of we kind of heads but I also see where she is coming

[00:37:20] [SPEAKER_00]: from because she's like well you had

[00:37:22] [SPEAKER_00]: you know I wanted you there because

[00:37:24] [SPEAKER_00]: you had good male role models and I did

[00:37:26] [SPEAKER_00]: my youth pastor was great I was very close to

[00:37:28] [SPEAKER_00]: a few of the male counselors in my youth

[00:37:30] [SPEAKER_00]: program and my dad was not

[00:37:32] [SPEAKER_00]: really around just because of job

[00:37:34] [SPEAKER_00]: personal stuff job stuff a lot of stuff he wasn't

[00:37:36] [SPEAKER_00]: really there so it was good that I had

[00:37:38] [SPEAKER_00]: those influences and I got to

[00:37:40] [SPEAKER_00]: experience a lot of stuff and I still

[00:37:42] [SPEAKER_00]: have good friends that kind of went through that

[00:37:44] [SPEAKER_00]: with me one of my very good

[00:37:46] [SPEAKER_00]: friends from high school we

[00:37:48] [SPEAKER_00]: still I see every time I'm

[00:37:50] [SPEAKER_00]: down I see her she just had a baby I made her

[00:37:52] [SPEAKER_00]: her baby a blanket and I was just so excited

[00:37:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and I remember just

[00:37:56] [SPEAKER_00]: when I told my wife that she

[00:37:58] [SPEAKER_00]: was pregnant I just remember both of us

[00:38:00] [SPEAKER_00]: lighting up and that's not someone

[00:38:02] [SPEAKER_00]: that would be in my life if I hadn't gone through that

[00:38:05] [SPEAKER_00]: and we hadn't gone to that together and it's also fun

[00:38:07] [SPEAKER_00]: because we'll mention something that happened

[00:38:09] [SPEAKER_00]: and we'll be like the fuck was that

[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_00]: so

[00:38:14] [SPEAKER_00]: and there were I mean there were good times

[00:38:16] [SPEAKER_00]: I think I wouldn't be

[00:38:17] [SPEAKER_00]: like Mandy said I don't you know

[00:38:19] [SPEAKER_00]: everyone kind of forgets just how

[00:38:22] [SPEAKER_00]: extreme Jesus was in what

[00:38:24] [SPEAKER_00]: he called people to do and how

[00:38:26] [SPEAKER_00]: loudly he called people to

[00:38:28] [SPEAKER_00]: love on each other and I do think

[00:38:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I try to emulate that even if I don't

[00:38:32] [SPEAKER_00]: necessarily identify as Christian that is something

[00:38:34] [SPEAKER_00]: that has stuck with me so it's just trying to

[00:38:35] [SPEAKER_00]: navigate try to bring both the good

[00:38:37] [SPEAKER_00]: and the bad and the just silly because

[00:38:40] [SPEAKER_00]: on Lemons of Silly Library

[00:38:42] [SPEAKER_00]: I told the story of being like eight or

[00:38:43] [SPEAKER_00]: nine and they thought it was a good idea to

[00:38:45] [SPEAKER_00]: show us one of the remnants

[00:38:47] [SPEAKER_00]: movies not the remnants left behind

[00:38:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and so being eight and nine and being afraid

[00:38:51] [SPEAKER_00]: that I was being gonna get left behind in the rapture

[00:38:54] [SPEAKER_00]: which is ridiculous

[00:38:55] [SPEAKER_00]: that's so silly

[00:38:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm with you

[00:38:59] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm terrified though when you're eight or nine

[00:39:00] [SPEAKER_00]: it's terrifying and you look back and it's just

[00:39:02] [SPEAKER_00]: really funny so like being able to bring

[00:39:05] [SPEAKER_00]: I think I like to think I can bring

[00:39:07] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of all those sides like the bad

[00:39:09] [SPEAKER_00]: the good and the just really silly

[00:39:11] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah and kind of explore

[00:39:13] [SPEAKER_00]: all of that at the same time

[00:39:14] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah speaking of silly

[00:39:16] [SPEAKER_05]: can Maryam come like kick my ass

[00:39:20] [SPEAKER_05]: because I feel

[00:39:21] [SPEAKER_05]: like she could kick my ass I kind of want

[00:39:23] [SPEAKER_05]: her to I am low key obsessed

[00:39:24] [SPEAKER_05]: with her where did she as a character

[00:39:27] [SPEAKER_05]: come from

[00:39:28] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm not really a true person

[00:39:29] [SPEAKER_00]: I don't under so she did not

[00:39:33] [SPEAKER_00]: have so much muscle mommy energy at the beginning

[00:39:36] [SPEAKER_00]: but she's

[00:39:37] [SPEAKER_00]: definitely increasingly the more

[00:39:38] [SPEAKER_00]: she definitely has that energy

[00:39:41] [SPEAKER_00]: I think so some of it was

[00:39:42] [SPEAKER_00]: so I am for listeners who do not

[00:39:44] [SPEAKER_00]: know me I am a transgender man

[00:39:46] [SPEAKER_00]: I grew up a girl I didn't start

[00:39:48] [SPEAKER_00]: transitioning until about 26

[00:39:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and so I grew up

[00:39:52] [SPEAKER_00]: in the church as a girl during the early

[00:39:54] [SPEAKER_00]: 2000s in an evangelical church

[00:39:57] [SPEAKER_00]: which was what's it own

[00:39:58] [SPEAKER_00]: circle of hell I think Dante

[00:40:00] [SPEAKER_00]: would have made a special

[00:40:04] [SPEAKER_00]: growing up

[00:40:05] [SPEAKER_00]: in the period movement and so I

[00:40:06] [SPEAKER_00]: think she came she comes from a lot

[00:40:08] [SPEAKER_00]: of that rage and a lot of that discontent

[00:40:11] [SPEAKER_00]: and a lot of that

[00:40:12] [SPEAKER_00]: recognition that something is not really

[00:40:15] [SPEAKER_00]: right but not being able to

[00:40:16] [SPEAKER_00]: articulate what it is

[00:40:18] [SPEAKER_00]: and so trying she comes from a lot

[00:40:20] [SPEAKER_00]: of that

[00:40:21] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot of that feminine rage I feel like

[00:40:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I will always have regardless

[00:40:26] [SPEAKER_00]: of how I identify or what testosterone

[00:40:29] [SPEAKER_00]: does to my voice because it's just

[00:40:30] [SPEAKER_00]: one of those things you had to be there

[00:40:32] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah you had to live it she smarts off

[00:40:35] [SPEAKER_05]: to this dude like three pages

[00:40:37] [SPEAKER_05]: in and I was like my girl

[00:40:38] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah get him girl do

[00:40:41] [SPEAKER_03]: it I so we

[00:40:43] [SPEAKER_03]: we had this conversation

[00:40:44] [SPEAKER_03]: Finn and it wasn't so much a conversation

[00:40:46] [SPEAKER_03]: it was me kind of just yelling at you

[00:40:49] [SPEAKER_03]: like how so

[00:40:51] [SPEAKER_03]: demons and museums is

[00:40:53] [SPEAKER_03]: a like little prequel novel

[00:40:54] [SPEAKER_03]: that comes before everything

[00:40:56] [SPEAKER_03]: kind of happens in angels and exorcists

[00:40:59] [SPEAKER_03]: and we see Maryam as

[00:41:01] [SPEAKER_03]: a little baby

[00:41:02] [SPEAKER_03]: and I was so upset to

[00:41:05] [SPEAKER_03]: find out that I did not get to keep

[00:41:07] [SPEAKER_03]: it'll be the baby Maryam I was like

[00:41:09] [SPEAKER_03]: hold on a second how dare you

[00:41:10] [SPEAKER_03]: make me fall in love with this baby and now she's

[00:41:12] [SPEAKER_03]: a full grown adult and yes I love her

[00:41:15] [SPEAKER_03]: as a full grown adult but like how

[00:41:17] [SPEAKER_00]: dare you so in my

[00:41:18] [SPEAKER_00]: so in my defense I wrote

[00:41:20] [SPEAKER_00]: angels and angels and demons

[00:41:22] [SPEAKER_00]: for angels and demons

[00:41:25] [SPEAKER_00]: angels and exorcists first

[00:41:27] [SPEAKER_00]: demons and museums was

[00:41:29] [SPEAKER_00]: supposed to be a short story

[00:41:31] [SPEAKER_00]: to be like a newsletter

[00:41:32] [SPEAKER_00]: like kind of a letter freebie and then it

[00:41:34] [SPEAKER_00]: it was so much fun that it kind of grew

[00:41:36] [SPEAKER_00]: and so I just turned it into that little

[00:41:38] [SPEAKER_00]: novel let so I apologize

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_01]: I

[00:41:42] [SPEAKER_00]: mean I love them but I'm just like

[00:41:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean there's a lot of

[00:41:47] [SPEAKER_00]: space I mean that's like a 20 year gap

[00:41:49] [SPEAKER_00]: so there's definitely room to go back

[00:41:50] [SPEAKER_00]: and explore some other I just

[00:41:53] [SPEAKER_03]: really really like

[00:41:54] [SPEAKER_03]: the vibes like and I think

[00:41:57] [SPEAKER_03]: this is how you were marketing it

[00:41:59] [SPEAKER_03]: is like it's Pedro Pascal

[00:42:01] [SPEAKER_03]: adopting a town of baby and I'm just

[00:42:03] [SPEAKER_03]: like I the vibes

[00:42:04] [SPEAKER_03]: the vibes are excellent

[00:42:06] [SPEAKER_03]: like I'm just I just

[00:42:09] [SPEAKER_03]: want to live there for a little bit longer

[00:42:11] [SPEAKER_03]: but it's fine it's fine I do love Maryam

[00:42:13] [SPEAKER_03]: as she is as an adult

[00:42:15] [SPEAKER_03]: I just also am like

[00:42:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I have always been like a baby

[00:42:19] [SPEAKER_03]: person and so

[00:42:21] [SPEAKER_03]: it's your boy and now she's not a buddy

[00:42:23] [SPEAKER_03]: so that's

[00:42:25] [SPEAKER_03]: my own hang up

[00:42:26] [SPEAKER_01]: that's your special hang up

[00:42:29] [SPEAKER_03]: listen you guys

[00:42:31] [SPEAKER_03]: you need to understand how

[00:42:33] [SPEAKER_03]: not here I am right now I was

[00:42:35] [SPEAKER_03]: reading earlier and I thought

[00:42:37] [SPEAKER_03]: that I read a character's name

[00:42:39] [SPEAKER_03]: as a different character and I was

[00:42:41] [SPEAKER_03]: so confused and I was like

[00:42:43] [SPEAKER_03]: Finn hold on what's happening here he's like

[00:42:45] [SPEAKER_03]: Karen no

[00:42:47] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean I was fully ready

[00:42:49] [SPEAKER_00]: to come home and check in

[00:42:50] [SPEAKER_00]: because low key I still need to fix

[00:42:53] [SPEAKER_00]: that other type of setting but like

[00:42:55] [SPEAKER_04]: truly I truly

[00:42:56] [SPEAKER_04]: I don't know I truly

[00:42:59] [SPEAKER_04]: thought that the bartender

[00:43:01] [SPEAKER_03]: had the same name as

[00:43:03] [SPEAKER_03]: the dad and I was like no

[00:43:05] [SPEAKER_03]: no I just I just read it

[00:43:07] [SPEAKER_03]: I did it really just

[00:43:09] [SPEAKER_03]: was me being so

[00:43:11] [SPEAKER_00]: they're very close in

[00:43:15] [SPEAKER_04]: no it's

[00:43:16] [SPEAKER_04]: it's fully

[00:43:17] [SPEAKER_04]: a me problem I promise

[00:43:19] [SPEAKER_04]: you it is fully a me problem

[00:43:22] [SPEAKER_05]: oh my god

[00:43:23] [SPEAKER_05]: what is your writing process like

[00:43:25] [SPEAKER_05]: when you sit down to when you sat down

[00:43:27] [SPEAKER_05]: to start this story

[00:43:28] [SPEAKER_00]: it was a lot of

[00:43:30] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot of biblical rabbit holes

[00:43:33] [SPEAKER_00]: a lot of apocryphal rabbit holes

[00:43:35] [SPEAKER_00]: which those are books that for

[00:43:37] [SPEAKER_00]: whatever reason there's a long list of reasons

[00:43:39] [SPEAKER_00]: that depends on the book didn't and

[00:43:41] [SPEAKER_00]: basically didn't make it into

[00:43:43] [SPEAKER_00]: one version of the canonized

[00:43:45] [SPEAKER_00]: Bible or another lot of

[00:43:47] [SPEAKER_00]: reading a lot of those

[00:43:49] [SPEAKER_00]: to kind of see what I had to have been

[00:43:51] [SPEAKER_05]: terrifying for a former church

[00:43:53] [SPEAKER_00]: kid the cool see those are the cool ones

[00:43:55] [SPEAKER_00]: though because the thing is like my

[00:43:56] [SPEAKER_00]: my gripes were never necessarily

[00:43:59] [SPEAKER_00]: well okay I should say once I

[00:44:01] [SPEAKER_00]: was an adult because as a child when you

[00:44:03] [SPEAKER_00]: see God turning someone to a pillar of salt

[00:44:04] [SPEAKER_00]: you don't sleep

[00:44:08] [SPEAKER_00]: oh my gripes

[00:44:09] [SPEAKER_00]: were never with the Bible it was

[00:44:11] [SPEAKER_00]: always how it was interpreted and

[00:44:12] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah a lot of things were not

[00:44:14] [SPEAKER_00]: things that are in conflict were never

[00:44:16] [SPEAKER_00]: really resolved it never those were

[00:44:19] [SPEAKER_00]: never talked about in my church but

[00:44:20] [SPEAKER_00]: my wife and I we go to an

[00:44:22] [SPEAKER_00]: Episcopal church now and there seems like

[00:44:24] [SPEAKER_00]: there's a lot more to say

[00:44:28] [SPEAKER_00]: and so there's a lot it feels like

[00:44:29] [SPEAKER_00]: there's a lot more room for

[00:44:31] [SPEAKER_00]: to research that and to just kind of

[00:44:33] [SPEAKER_00]: let the Bible be what it is which is a collection

[00:44:35] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah of a shit ton of books

[00:44:37] [SPEAKER_00]: that were written over thousands of years

[00:44:39] [SPEAKER_00]: by a shit ton of different people

[00:44:41] [SPEAKER_00]: and so going into

[00:44:42] [SPEAKER_00]: like learning that there's even more

[00:44:45] [SPEAKER_00]: ways to look at God and more ways

[00:44:47] [SPEAKER_00]: to look at Jesus and

[00:44:49] [SPEAKER_00]: just experience religion

[00:44:51] [SPEAKER_00]: in this corner of the world was very fascinating

[00:44:53] [SPEAKER_00]: and I ended up settling on the

[00:44:55] [SPEAKER_00]: book of Enoch and getting really obsessed

[00:44:57] [SPEAKER_00]: with that this is the second time I've talked about

[00:44:59] [SPEAKER_00]: this and not grabbed by Bible so I could talk

[00:45:01] [SPEAKER_00]: like

[00:45:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I was out of the giant

[00:45:05] [SPEAKER_00]: encyclopedia of saints right here staring me down

[00:45:07] [SPEAKER_00]: but I forgot my fucking Bible

[00:45:10] [SPEAKER_00]: so that

[00:45:11] [SPEAKER_00]: looks at in Genesis

[00:45:12] [SPEAKER_00]: it talks about the the Nephilim

[00:45:15] [SPEAKER_00]: being on the earth before the flood

[00:45:17] [SPEAKER_00]: and so the book book of Enoch basically

[00:45:19] [SPEAKER_00]: takes that and kind of blows it up

[00:45:21] [SPEAKER_00]: until like a full book and so that's

[00:45:23] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of where I got that idea and kind

[00:45:25] [SPEAKER_00]: of playing with the idea of like there's

[00:45:27] [SPEAKER_00]: more here there's more here than

[00:45:28] [SPEAKER_00]: or I guess there's more in the text

[00:45:31] [SPEAKER_00]: that lend itself to narration than

[00:45:33] [SPEAKER_00]: is presented and that was very fascinating

[00:45:35] [SPEAKER_00]: it didn't help that at the same time

[00:45:37] [SPEAKER_00]: in 2019 that was when the pilot

[00:45:39] [SPEAKER_00]: for has been held dropped and the internet

[00:45:41] [SPEAKER_00]: was obsessed

[00:45:44] [SPEAKER_00]: so I think

[00:45:46] [SPEAKER_00]: subconsciously

[00:45:47] [SPEAKER_00]: influence some of these ideas of like the demons

[00:45:49] [SPEAKER_00]: not necessarily being the bad guys

[00:45:51] [SPEAKER_00]: of like it's not as black and white

[00:45:53] [SPEAKER_00]: as it's supposed to be and just the

[00:45:55] [SPEAKER_00]: Christian mythology

[00:45:56] [SPEAKER_00]: is very interesting to me

[00:45:58] [SPEAKER_00]: which I kind of want to deal with more this is more

[00:46:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I would say Jewish mythology

[00:46:02] [SPEAKER_00]: I think you'd say someone can absolutely

[00:46:04] [SPEAKER_00]: blast me and correct me on this later

[00:46:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I totally

[00:46:08] [SPEAKER_00]: admit what I'm I can admit when I'm wrong

[00:46:10] [SPEAKER_00]: and if I'm out of pocket

[00:46:12] [SPEAKER_00]: correct me but like just looking at that as

[00:46:14] [SPEAKER_00]: mythology because we look at so many

[00:46:16] [SPEAKER_00]: different religions and so many different cultural

[00:46:18] [SPEAKER_00]: practices as mythology

[00:46:20] [SPEAKER_00]: but we never stop to think that you know what

[00:46:22] [SPEAKER_00]: the story of Noah probably actually a myth

[00:46:24] [SPEAKER_00]: probably didn't actually happen

[00:46:26] [SPEAKER_00]: right and there's just so much there that

[00:46:28] [SPEAKER_00]: like it's more interesting and I feel

[00:46:30] [SPEAKER_00]: like more there's more dimensions if you

[00:46:32] [SPEAKER_00]: look at it in a more legend

[00:46:34] [SPEAKER_00]: or miss single there are

[00:46:36] [SPEAKER_05]: so many things like that though like did we

[00:46:38] [SPEAKER_05]: really part of Red Sea

[00:46:41] [SPEAKER_05]: or was it something else that was

[00:46:42] [SPEAKER_05]: a little bit blown up blown

[00:46:44] [SPEAKER_05]: out of proportions from what it actually

[00:46:46] [SPEAKER_00]: was so most colors now think

[00:46:48] [SPEAKER_00]: it was a sea quote unquote

[00:46:50] [SPEAKER_00]: a sea of reeds which was basically sort

[00:46:52] [SPEAKER_00]: of like a Martian is what that was supposed to mean

[00:46:54] [SPEAKER_05]: and they like when they

[00:46:56] [SPEAKER_05]: put it in a movie or one of the cartoons

[00:46:58] [SPEAKER_05]: that they put in front of you in church

[00:47:00] [SPEAKER_05]: I will not

[00:47:01] [SPEAKER_00]: I will not stand for Prince of Egypt slander

[00:47:04] [SPEAKER_00]: okay

[00:47:06] [SPEAKER_01]: I don't care how

[00:47:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Prince of Egypt gets a pass

[00:47:10] [SPEAKER_04]: it's so good

[00:47:12] [SPEAKER_05]: this is so true okay

[00:47:14] [SPEAKER_05]: it was that or the little toaster

[00:47:16] [SPEAKER_05]: the brave little toaster at every

[00:47:18] [SPEAKER_05]: lock-in of my life

[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I

[00:47:24] [SPEAKER_00]: I let you watch that they're like

[00:47:26] [SPEAKER_00]: I feel like the play would

[00:47:28] [SPEAKER_00]: say like oh no I didn't have an item

[00:47:30] [SPEAKER_00]: and objects can't have souls like so I'm surprised you got a

[00:47:32] [SPEAKER_05]: with that okay I wasn't Episcopal

[00:47:34] [SPEAKER_05]: Church I've grown up in the Episcopal

[00:47:36] [SPEAKER_05]: Church so it's always been

[00:47:38] [SPEAKER_05]: a little more chill but like my grandmother

[00:47:40] [SPEAKER_05]: was not Episcopalian

[00:47:42] [SPEAKER_05]: she was a different denomination

[00:47:44] [SPEAKER_05]: that I'm not gonna bash

[00:47:46] [SPEAKER_05]: am I in laws or that same denomination

[00:47:48] [SPEAKER_05]: you can guess I'm in Georgia

[00:47:50] [SPEAKER_00]: you got like maybe three options so yeah

[00:47:52] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah so like I grew up

[00:47:54] [SPEAKER_05]: in a chill church but then like

[00:47:56] [SPEAKER_05]: going to church with grandparents

[00:47:58] [SPEAKER_05]: or friends it was like oh y'all

[00:48:00] [SPEAKER_05]: are scary like the dot I grew

[00:48:02] [SPEAKER_05]: up believing in was like loving

[00:48:04] [SPEAKER_05]: kind and they're like you're

[00:48:06] [SPEAKER_05]: going to hell I'd like

[00:48:08] [SPEAKER_05]: go to Sarmons and it would be like nope

[00:48:10] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah are you okay

[00:48:13] [SPEAKER_03]: okay

[00:48:15] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah

[00:48:16] [SPEAKER_03]: this is all so fascinating

[00:48:17] [SPEAKER_03]: for me as an outsider

[00:48:19] [SPEAKER_05]: Karen my whole life motto has been

[00:48:21] [SPEAKER_05]: like I don't have any issues with Jesus

[00:48:23] [SPEAKER_05]: his followers are weird

[00:48:25] [SPEAKER_05]: they get weird

[00:48:27] [SPEAKER_05]: they get weird

[00:48:29] [SPEAKER_00]: that's fair

[00:48:31] [SPEAKER_00]: Karen if you ever want to be

[00:48:33] [SPEAKER_00]: if you ever want a trip just

[00:48:35] [SPEAKER_00]: like do this camp

[00:48:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I have literally no sense of religion

[00:48:39] [SPEAKER_03]: I just organized religion

[00:48:42] [SPEAKER_03]: makes no sense in my brain

[00:48:43] [SPEAKER_03]: I just never has

[00:48:45] [SPEAKER_05]: there's just a lot of hypocrisy

[00:48:47] [SPEAKER_05]: especially in Christianity

[00:48:49] [SPEAKER_05]: you will sit in a sermon

[00:48:50] [SPEAKER_05]: where they tell you if you're gay

[00:48:52] [SPEAKER_05]: you're going to hell meet us outside

[00:48:55] [SPEAKER_05]: for the ham lunch after

[00:48:56] [SPEAKER_05]: and the pastor has a shaved face

[00:48:59] [SPEAKER_05]: and it's like you're not supposed to eat pork

[00:49:01] [SPEAKER_05]: you're not supposed to shave your face

[00:49:03] [SPEAKER_05]: you're not supposed to wear certain kinds of fabric

[00:49:05] [SPEAKER_05]: you're doing all of these things

[00:49:07] [SPEAKER_05]: but this one is the one you want to call out

[00:49:09] [SPEAKER_05]: are you kidding

[00:49:10] [SPEAKER_03]: my biggest thing is

[00:49:12] [SPEAKER_03]: aren't y'all supposed to love

[00:49:14] [SPEAKER_03]: thy neighbor

[00:49:15] [SPEAKER_03]: that is kind of the whole point

[00:49:18] [SPEAKER_03]: of Christianity

[00:49:19] [SPEAKER_03]: I have never been able to wrap

[00:49:22] [SPEAKER_03]: my mind around that

[00:49:23] [SPEAKER_03]: I know nothing about organized religion

[00:49:26] [SPEAKER_03]: and I know that

[00:49:27] [SPEAKER_03]: you're supposed to be kind and compassionate

[00:49:30] [SPEAKER_03]: to people

[00:49:32] [SPEAKER_03]: anyways that is beside the points

[00:49:34] [SPEAKER_03]: I want to know

[00:49:35] [SPEAKER_03]: what I want to do

[00:49:37] [SPEAKER_00]: what the hell is it

[00:49:38] [SPEAKER_00]: no go ahead

[00:49:39] [SPEAKER_00]: well I'm going to say I mean it's not complete

[00:49:41] [SPEAKER_00]: because that is something because as you

[00:49:42] [SPEAKER_00]: regressed through the book Maryam does address that

[00:49:45] [SPEAKER_00]: especially in this book kind of the hypocrisy

[00:49:47] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of and you saw it a bit in demons of museum

[00:49:49] [SPEAKER_00]: like how they treat Zachary despite the fact that

[00:49:52] [SPEAKER_00]: he's trying to be better

[00:49:54] [SPEAKER_00]: mistakes he made

[00:49:55] [SPEAKER_00]: at the dawn of time like they're still holding that against them

[00:49:58] [SPEAKER_00]: so yeah I think it's still a bad point

[00:49:59] [SPEAKER_00]: but you said you wanted to know something

[00:50:00] [SPEAKER_03]: I do have I'm very curious

[00:50:03] [SPEAKER_03]: because I know this is a series

[00:50:05] [SPEAKER_03]: so one how many

[00:50:07] [SPEAKER_03]: books do you have planned

[00:50:09] [SPEAKER_03]: and are you a plotter

[00:50:11] [SPEAKER_03]: or a pancer like do you know how it's ending

[00:50:13] [SPEAKER_03]: or is it just kind of like I don't know

[00:50:15] [SPEAKER_03]: they're telling me as I go along

[00:50:17] [SPEAKER_00]: it's kind of so right now

[00:50:19] [SPEAKER_00]: the game plan is five

[00:50:21] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of like main books which is where you get

[00:50:23] [SPEAKER_00]: the big picture story and then in between

[00:50:26] [SPEAKER_00]: those I want to do

[00:50:27] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of some side stories

[00:50:29] [SPEAKER_00]: like just in like different couplings kind of

[00:50:31] [SPEAKER_00]: just because just as an indie

[00:50:33] [SPEAKER_00]: not to talk like super nerdy business

[00:50:35] [SPEAKER_00]: stuff but like with indie

[00:50:37] [SPEAKER_00]: you're always encouraged to publish

[00:50:39] [SPEAKER_00]: more frequently on the model that a lot of

[00:50:42] [SPEAKER_00]: people want to push

[00:50:43] [SPEAKER_00]: like four books a year and that is not happening

[00:50:45] [SPEAKER_00]: I have a don't

[00:50:46] [SPEAKER_00]: not sustainable

[00:50:49] [SPEAKER_00]: it's not sustainable

[00:50:50] [SPEAKER_00]: like I got taxes to pay y'all like if you can happen

[00:50:53] [SPEAKER_05]: you gotta work for the Illuminati

[00:50:55] [SPEAKER_05]: to do

[00:50:56] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah

[00:50:56] [SPEAKER_05]: no it's not exactly

[00:50:58] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah

[00:51:01] [SPEAKER_00]: so I

[00:51:02] [SPEAKER_00]: figured I'm like okay

[00:51:03] [SPEAKER_00]: if I really stay focused and challenge I can aim for two

[00:51:06] [SPEAKER_00]: so that's like one of the main books

[00:51:07] [SPEAKER_00]: and then one of these smaller novellas

[00:51:09] [SPEAKER_00]: like sirens and snow I just is out with

[00:51:12] [SPEAKER_00]: beta readers right now in that books

[00:51:13] [SPEAKER_00]: that Bakery and Emory's Who You Will Meet

[00:51:16] [SPEAKER_00]: and you will I'm sure adore

[00:51:17] [SPEAKER_00]: so that's right now is kind of the plan is to get that

[00:51:19] [SPEAKER_00]: have the five and then like four or five

[00:51:22] [SPEAKER_00]: little mini books

[00:51:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm a plan

[00:51:24] [SPEAKER_00]: sir so I can definitely I need some

[00:51:27] [SPEAKER_00]: sort of outline I use save the cat rights

[00:51:29] [SPEAKER_00]: and novel a lot I look at that

[00:51:31] [SPEAKER_00]: religiously as far as the beats go

[00:51:33] [SPEAKER_00]: and so I get kind of the major beats

[00:51:35] [SPEAKER_00]: and then I kind of fill it as I write

[00:51:37] [SPEAKER_00]: I kind of fill in the blanks of how to

[00:51:39] [SPEAKER_00]: get from point A to B

[00:51:40] [SPEAKER_03]: I just recently learned about that book

[00:51:43] [SPEAKER_03]: and it's currently in my Amazon cart

[00:51:45] [SPEAKER_03]: because I'm like I need this

[00:51:47] [SPEAKER_03]: so desperately I

[00:51:48] [SPEAKER_05]: have like the breakdown

[00:51:50] [SPEAKER_05]: down yeah I

[00:51:52] [SPEAKER_00]: so I used I used just the beat so

[00:51:54] [SPEAKER_00]: the beach sheets free so you can get that online

[00:51:56] [SPEAKER_00]: if anyone but the actual

[00:51:58] [SPEAKER_00]: I finally bought the actual book and it's

[00:52:00] [SPEAKER_00]: I really appreciate I use the actual

[00:52:02] [SPEAKER_00]: book more than I use the sheets now because

[00:52:04] [SPEAKER_00]: it I'm just gonna grab it of course I have

[00:52:06] [SPEAKER_00]: that I mean

[00:52:08] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean there's a cat on the cover so

[00:52:10] [SPEAKER_00]: it is it is a very cute cat

[00:52:13] [SPEAKER_00]: but one thing I really like about that

[00:52:14] [SPEAKER_00]: so they'll go into like

[00:52:16] [SPEAKER_00]: the basic structure like three art like

[00:52:18] [SPEAKER_00]: the basic three act structure and then break

[00:52:20] [SPEAKER_00]: that down but then they'll go

[00:52:22] [SPEAKER_00]: different ones like they have kind of a

[00:52:24] [SPEAKER_00]: customized beat sheet for like

[00:52:25] [SPEAKER_00]: mystery who done it another one for

[00:52:28] [SPEAKER_00]: like her like a romance

[00:52:30] [SPEAKER_00]: one for like like

[00:52:32] [SPEAKER_00]: for more horror oriented so

[00:52:34] [SPEAKER_00]: they have like an overarching one and then you can

[00:52:36] [SPEAKER_00]: tailor to what kind of

[00:52:38] [SPEAKER_00]: genre which I appreciate

[00:52:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I need it so helpful

[00:52:42] [SPEAKER_03]: I need it so I'm struggling

[00:52:45] [SPEAKER_00]: because sirens

[00:52:46] [SPEAKER_00]: and snow I didn't realize it till I like sat down

[00:52:49] [SPEAKER_00]: and was I kept hitting like dead

[00:52:50] [SPEAKER_00]: ends and so I looked at that and it's like

[00:52:52] [SPEAKER_00]: oh it's this kind of story it's not the one

[00:52:54] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm trying to tell this is the kind of

[00:52:56] [SPEAKER_00]: I love that

[00:52:58] [SPEAKER_05]: I heard that I hear folks

[00:53:00] [SPEAKER_05]: Dave the cat

[00:53:03] [SPEAKER_00]: they're not paying us but

[00:53:04] [SPEAKER_00]: I would not say no to money

[00:53:06] [SPEAKER_00]: and they can

[00:53:08] [SPEAKER_00]: but it's also a very very good book

[00:53:10] [SPEAKER_00]: I use that really

[00:53:12] [SPEAKER_05]: unintended

[00:53:12] [SPEAKER_05]: you use it

[00:53:13] [SPEAKER_05]: absolutely

[00:53:17] [SPEAKER_05]: okay so we have

[00:53:19] [SPEAKER_05]: we don't want to keep you too long but

[00:53:20] [SPEAKER_05]: we have a couple of questions that we always

[00:53:23] [SPEAKER_05]: ask our guests just because

[00:53:24] [SPEAKER_05]: we are who we are so the first one

[00:53:27] [SPEAKER_05]: we have a segment on the

[00:53:28] [SPEAKER_05]: podcast that we like to call fictional boyfriend

[00:53:30] [SPEAKER_05]: of the week it doesn't have to be a boyfriend

[00:53:32] [SPEAKER_05]: Karen's had a fictional granny

[00:53:34] [SPEAKER_05]: fictional pets fictional family

[00:53:36] [SPEAKER_05]: for any kind of romantic interest whatever

[00:53:38] [SPEAKER_05]: but do you have any fictional characters

[00:53:40] [SPEAKER_05]: that you I feel like Captain America

[00:53:42] [SPEAKER_05]: is one of them like your favorites

[00:53:44] [SPEAKER_05]: just from your shirt and your blanket

[00:53:46] [SPEAKER_00]: no I like any good

[00:53:48] [SPEAKER_00]: so Captain America is

[00:53:50] [SPEAKER_00]: my wife's favorite and still like any good

[00:53:52] [SPEAKER_00]: husband

[00:53:54] [SPEAKER_05]: I need to make George Wilson lowkey

[00:53:56] [SPEAKER_05]: merch

[00:53:58] [SPEAKER_05]: but you who are your fictional

[00:54:00] [SPEAKER_00]: my favorite so I am forever in love

[00:54:02] [SPEAKER_00]: with Gerald Eribea I think

[00:54:04] [SPEAKER_00]: every I don't care what your sexual orientation

[00:54:06] [SPEAKER_00]: if you're a man you're in love with Gerald

[00:54:08] [SPEAKER_00]: Eribea I don't make the rules

[00:54:11] [SPEAKER_00]: yeah yeah definitely

[00:54:12] [SPEAKER_00]: I think yeah this is the moment where

[00:54:14] [SPEAKER_03]: everything you've ever consumed

[00:54:16] [SPEAKER_00]: you know like every movie you've ever

[00:54:18] [SPEAKER_00]: consumed is just gone

[00:54:20] [SPEAKER_00]: it's like I don't have I ever seen a movie

[00:54:22] [SPEAKER_03]: it's like it's the only magic trick

[00:54:25] [SPEAKER_03]: that we have is to

[00:54:26] [SPEAKER_03]: wipe your brain I can make your memories

[00:54:29] [SPEAKER_05]: disappear

[00:54:30] [SPEAKER_00]: or for like books for like

[00:54:32] [SPEAKER_00]: multimedia say that for like TV

[00:54:34] [SPEAKER_00]: I'd say Darryl Dixon I'm on season

[00:54:36] [SPEAKER_00]: 11 of

[00:54:38] [SPEAKER_00]: The Walking Dead

[00:54:39] [SPEAKER_00]: I even forgot what it was called

[00:54:42] [SPEAKER_00]: which I think I feel like I'm one of maybe

[00:54:44] [SPEAKER_00]: five americans who watched season 11

[00:54:46] [SPEAKER_00]: and he's just kind of the

[00:54:48] [SPEAKER_05]: kind of like

[00:54:49] [SPEAKER_00]: who did

[00:54:53] [SPEAKER_00]: we were wrong

[00:54:54] [SPEAKER_00]: we wronged them when we stopped watching

[00:54:56] [SPEAKER_00]: when Glenn died it was actually very good

[00:54:58] [SPEAKER_00]: but I need to kind of it's I've kind

[00:55:00] [SPEAKER_00]: of I don't really relate to him in like

[00:55:02] [SPEAKER_00]: the like rough dirty

[00:55:04] [SPEAKER_00]: like just always on your bike out

[00:55:06] [SPEAKER_00]: eating squirrel and snake sort of way but

[00:55:08] [SPEAKER_00]: this kind of I don't know I've kind of

[00:55:10] [SPEAKER_00]: kind of come to identify him with my

[00:55:12] [SPEAKER_00]: Illuminati work which sounds silly

[00:55:14] [SPEAKER_00]: but like just kind of having being one foot

[00:55:16] [SPEAKER_00]: in one foot out of being with

[00:55:18] [SPEAKER_00]: like kind of coming home

[00:55:20] [SPEAKER_00]: and being in normal society but also

[00:55:23] [SPEAKER_00]: being able to rub it in some

[00:55:24] [SPEAKER_00]: ways when I'm out and having to

[00:55:27] [SPEAKER_03]: you know I can see that

[00:55:28] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah I can tell you I

[00:55:30] [SPEAKER_00]: thought about that but yeah

[00:55:32] [SPEAKER_00]: so that's sure so he's kind

[00:55:34] [SPEAKER_00]: of kind of like an archetypal

[00:55:36] [SPEAKER_00]: big brother sort of image for me now

[00:55:38] [SPEAKER_00]: that's a good choice oh I love it

[00:55:40] [SPEAKER_00]: I mean well I'm over here

[00:55:42] [SPEAKER_03]: that's a really great choice and I love

[00:55:44] [SPEAKER_03]: the meaning behind it but I'm just over

[00:55:46] [SPEAKER_03]: here like he's real hot I mean that too

[00:55:48] [SPEAKER_03]: like you know my

[00:55:50] [SPEAKER_03]: my brain like I said my brain there's

[00:55:52] [SPEAKER_03]: not a lot going on up here guys so

[00:55:54] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't have a lot of deep stuff like that

[00:55:56] [SPEAKER_05]: Karen have you watched

[00:55:57] [SPEAKER_05]: I have not

[00:55:59] [SPEAKER_03]: I have not oh yeah I know

[00:56:01] [SPEAKER_00]: Karen I know

[00:56:03] [SPEAKER_05]: see every time I look at him I just hear in

[00:56:04] [SPEAKER_05]: Shepherd's week she'll be my lord for the

[00:56:06] [SPEAKER_00]: that's fair I respect that that's

[00:56:08] [SPEAKER_00]: you gotta watch

[00:56:11] [SPEAKER_00]: I have a lot I almost saw you

[00:56:13] [SPEAKER_00]: for some reason I still

[00:56:15] [SPEAKER_00]: am in like early 2000s mode so I

[00:56:17] [SPEAKER_00]: hear boondocks and I immediately go to

[00:56:18] [SPEAKER_00]: the cartoon

[00:56:21] [SPEAKER_00]: they're both great they're very

[00:56:23] [SPEAKER_00]: different but they're both

[00:56:24] [SPEAKER_01]: very different

[00:56:25] [SPEAKER_01]: but they're both

[00:56:28] [SPEAKER_00]: different

[00:56:28] [SPEAKER_00]: I can't really

[00:56:30] [SPEAKER_00]: as much fiction as lately just because

[00:56:32] [SPEAKER_00]: with research and trying to

[00:56:34] [SPEAKER_00]: better my craft I've become

[00:56:36] [SPEAKER_00]: since putting it on the world I've become very self-conscious

[00:56:39] [SPEAKER_00]: so

[00:56:39] [SPEAKER_00]: you should not be

[00:56:41] [SPEAKER_05]: I understand everything I've read so far

[00:56:45] [SPEAKER_05]: I like it's been great

[00:56:46] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah like it's pulled me in

[00:56:48] [SPEAKER_05]: I didn't want to come upstairs to record because I was reading

[00:56:50] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah no I was excited to talk to you guys

[00:56:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I was reading and I had to

[00:56:55] [SPEAKER_03]: go to my child's parent teacher

[00:56:56] [SPEAKER_03]: conference and I'm like is this really necessary

[00:56:58] [SPEAKER_03]: do I actually have to go to this

[00:57:00] [SPEAKER_03]: can't I just be reading so that's

[00:57:03] [SPEAKER_03]: what shifted it to me

[00:57:03] [SPEAKER_00]: please cry oh thank you but I'll

[00:57:07] [SPEAKER_00]: simply

[00:57:08] [SPEAKER_03]: you're like you're my priorities are

[00:57:10] [SPEAKER_03]: shifting a little bit

[00:57:11] [SPEAKER_05]: well Angelina is about to get me through a hurricane

[00:57:14] [SPEAKER_05]: so

[00:57:16] [SPEAKER_05]: if I lose power my kid will die

[00:57:18] [SPEAKER_00]: there you go awesome

[00:57:20] [SPEAKER_03]: so I guess this is like a bad time

[00:57:23] [SPEAKER_03]: to ask the other question

[00:57:24] [SPEAKER_03]: that we always ask our guests but

[00:57:26] [SPEAKER_03]: like we have to because that's

[00:57:28] [SPEAKER_03]: what we do so we know

[00:57:30] [SPEAKER_03]: that we're gonna be wrecking

[00:57:32] [SPEAKER_03]: your buck because we're already obsessed

[00:57:34] [SPEAKER_03]: with it but what we want to know is

[00:57:36] [SPEAKER_03]: what are you reading recommending

[00:57:38] [SPEAKER_03]: like what books

[00:57:40] [SPEAKER_05]: we know you're researching right now but

[00:57:42] [SPEAKER_03]: do you have a favorite that you

[00:57:44] [SPEAKER_03]: think people should read anything like that

[00:57:46] [SPEAKER_00]: so I'm reading I'm in the middle of

[00:57:48] [SPEAKER_00]: the stolen air by Holly Black

[00:57:50] [SPEAKER_00]: which is one of the favorite

[00:57:52] [SPEAKER_00]: this is definitely one of my favorites of hers I've read

[00:57:54] [SPEAKER_00]: in a long time my other my previous favorite

[00:57:56] [SPEAKER_00]: of hers was in the darkest part of the forest

[00:57:58] [SPEAKER_00]: which I think they're like right up there I really enjoyed

[00:58:00] [SPEAKER_00]: both of these so much I mean I love everything

[00:58:02] [SPEAKER_05]: she does yeah I walk past her

[00:58:04] [SPEAKER_05]: at YallFest and like she was busy so

[00:58:06] [SPEAKER_05]: and like she had a ticketed line but I

[00:58:08] [SPEAKER_05]: was just like I'm breathing the same air as Holly Black

[00:58:10] [SPEAKER_00]: right now I know that feeling

[00:58:12] [SPEAKER_00]: yep no I've been there because

[00:58:14] [SPEAKER_00]: she's got me into into

[00:58:16] [SPEAKER_00]: like just really fucked up fairies back

[00:58:18] [SPEAKER_00]: when I was a kid so

[00:58:20] [SPEAKER_00]: wait I am she's one of the reasons I am the way I am

[00:58:23] [SPEAKER_00]: I told my niece

[00:58:25] [SPEAKER_05]: is all about card and green briar

[00:58:27] [SPEAKER_05]: and I was like and he has a tail and they're like

[00:58:31] [SPEAKER_05]: look you just

[00:58:32] [SPEAKER_05]: overlooking okay fine

[00:58:34] [SPEAKER_00]: but yeah so that

[00:58:36] [SPEAKER_00]: that's what I'm in the middle of

[00:58:37] [SPEAKER_00]: and that has been that's been very good

[00:58:39] [SPEAKER_00]: also highly recommend

[00:58:40] [SPEAKER_00]: the flowering blade I had to think for a second

[00:58:43] [SPEAKER_00]: which is a spy

[00:58:45] [SPEAKER_00]: another trans

[00:58:46] [SPEAKER_00]: indie author about a fairy prince who gets

[00:58:49] [SPEAKER_00]: captured by a horde of orcs

[00:58:51] [SPEAKER_00]: which is about a smutty as

[00:58:52] [SPEAKER_00]: you probably are imagining it

[00:58:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and it's great this is like everything I could ever want

[00:58:57] [SPEAKER_00]: I know so if you want to be

[00:58:59] [SPEAKER_00]: if you want to be cultured read the

[00:59:00] [SPEAKER_00]: Stolen Air if you just want to be a smut goblin

[00:59:03] [SPEAKER_03]: like the rest of us listen I

[00:59:04] [SPEAKER_00]: am very much

[00:59:07] [SPEAKER_03]: like right now I'm in this weird

[00:59:09] [SPEAKER_03]: slump and I've talked about it on the podcast

[00:59:11] [SPEAKER_03]: I'm in this weird slump where like

[00:59:12] [SPEAKER_03]: all I want to read is

[00:59:14] [SPEAKER_03]: KU smut so that's like

[00:59:16] [SPEAKER_03]: right up my alley

[00:59:18] [SPEAKER_00]: eventually one of these days I'll actually

[00:59:20] [SPEAKER_00]: I have like three more books I have to get through and then I can finally sit down

[00:59:23] [SPEAKER_00]: and read the series Sex Wizards

[00:59:24] [SPEAKER_00]: that is the type of

[00:59:27] [SPEAKER_00]: I was holding that I was like

[00:59:29] [SPEAKER_00]: no I can't be a smut goblin

[00:59:30] [SPEAKER_00]: that I have to do real serious work

[00:59:32] [SPEAKER_05]: that is just all the more reason to

[00:59:36] [SPEAKER_05]: to get through writing that could be a reward at the end

[00:59:39] [SPEAKER_03]: well there's also another reason

[00:59:41] [SPEAKER_03]: that I'm going to tell you right now

[00:59:43] [SPEAKER_03]: is that because you have been on the

[00:59:45] [SPEAKER_03]: podcast you're actually legally obligated

[00:59:47] [SPEAKER_03]: to come back for all future book releases

[00:59:50] [SPEAKER_03]: which means you have to write them

[00:59:51] [SPEAKER_03]: so like

[00:59:53] [SPEAKER_01]: I mean yeah that's fair

[00:59:56] [SPEAKER_00]: as a

[00:59:57] [SPEAKER_00]: fair legal I cannot give legal advice on how

[00:59:59] [SPEAKER_00]: that I don't think that's legal

[01:00:01] [SPEAKER_03]: we've had a lawyer told us it's

[01:00:03] [SPEAKER_03]: totally legally binding

[01:00:04] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah okay lawyer

[01:00:07] [SPEAKER_00]: I'm fairly

[01:00:11] [SPEAKER_03]: lucky

[01:00:12] [SPEAKER_03]: no remember that one time we actually did have

[01:00:14] [SPEAKER_03]: a lawyer on the podcast

[01:00:16] [SPEAKER_05]: that's true

[01:00:17] [SPEAKER_03]: I don't have a brain either today

[01:00:19] [SPEAKER_03]: it's okay you're on you're on watch

[01:00:22] [SPEAKER_03]: yeah I'm on hurricane watch

[01:00:24] [SPEAKER_03]: it's totally

[01:00:25] [SPEAKER_03]: totally absolutely legally binding you to

[01:00:28] [SPEAKER_03]: definitely signed a secret contract

[01:00:30] [SPEAKER_05]: that and every time your wife

[01:00:32] [SPEAKER_05]: has to tell us hi before we record because

[01:00:34] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah that's all I'm a little obsessed with her

[01:00:36] [SPEAKER_03]: also in the car so much

[01:00:38] [SPEAKER_03]: you know

[01:00:39] [SPEAKER_00]: very excited to be able to come say hi

[01:00:43] [SPEAKER_03]: okay

[01:00:45] [SPEAKER_03]: so friends

[01:00:46] [SPEAKER_03]: this episode is coming out

[01:00:48] [SPEAKER_03]: on really stay so you can

[01:00:50] [SPEAKER_03]: listen to this episode and then you can go pick up

[01:00:52] [SPEAKER_03]: a copy of angels and exorcists yeah it's

[01:00:54] [SPEAKER_03]: amazing and you should

[01:00:56] [SPEAKER_03]: absolutely do that maybe buy like a couple you

[01:00:58] [SPEAKER_03]: never know you need gifts

[01:01:00] [SPEAKER_05]: share it with your friends who have religious trauma

[01:01:02] [SPEAKER_05]: yeah

[01:01:04] [SPEAKER_03]: there's a lot of those people

[01:01:06] [SPEAKER_03]: trust

[01:01:07] [SPEAKER_03]: there are a lot of those people out there

[01:01:09] [SPEAKER_03]: okay so yeah

[01:01:11] [SPEAKER_00]: did you want to be supernatural

[01:01:12] [SPEAKER_00]: did your church fuck you up

[01:01:14] [SPEAKER_00]: I want to make a

[01:01:16] [SPEAKER_05]: like the way that you said that I want to make

[01:01:19] [SPEAKER_05]: a really cheesy infomercial oh my god

[01:01:21] [SPEAKER_05]: you're just walking in front of like a green screen

[01:01:23] [SPEAKER_05]: of an impala you guys like supernatural

[01:01:25] [SPEAKER_05]: and then a green screen of pews do you

[01:01:27] [SPEAKER_05]: have religious trauma

[01:01:28] [SPEAKER_05]: I actually

[01:01:31] [SPEAKER_05]: I'm a cheesy piano music church player

[01:01:33] [SPEAKER_00]: wait

[01:01:34] [SPEAKER_00]: this is I'm sorry

[01:01:36] [SPEAKER_00]: you have to play a hymn or I'm coming back to the heart

[01:01:39] [SPEAKER_00]: of worship or like something

[01:01:40] [SPEAKER_00]: oh my god I love this

[01:01:43] [SPEAKER_00]: so much

[01:01:44] [SPEAKER_00]: if this doesn't happen

[01:01:47] [SPEAKER_00]: no the old rugby project is too dignified

[01:01:49] [SPEAKER_00]: it has to be one of those worship

[01:01:50] [SPEAKER_00]: that has four chords and one

[01:01:53] [SPEAKER_00]: for a word for five minutes

[01:01:54] [SPEAKER_00]: and then everybody should stand

[01:01:57] [SPEAKER_05]: in like this in the background

[01:01:59] [SPEAKER_01]: 100%

[01:02:00] [SPEAKER_03]: oh my god I love this so much

[01:02:02] [SPEAKER_03]: okay this

[01:05:36] [SPEAKER_03]: I say it every week

[01:06:41] [SPEAKER_03]: set a specific post

[01:06:43] [SPEAKER_03]: for sale so like somebody

[01:06:45] [SPEAKER_03]: could buy just a post

[01:06:49] [SPEAKER_03]: put that up for our bonus content

[01:06:52] [SPEAKER_03]: because like nobody really

[01:06:53] [SPEAKER_03]: I mean like yes the early access

[01:06:55] [SPEAKER_03]: is cool but like after the fact
