I finished another ARC!
If you've been listening to the podcast recently, you know that Karin and I got a little ambitious with ARCs lately and have been reading through seemingly never-ending lists. This isn't a complaint, it's everything I've ever dreamed of.
Anyways, this week's ARC is The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches by Sangu Mandanna and it was another lovely, witchy, low stakes tale. This time, we follow witch Mika Moon as she, against her better judgement and behind her witch mentor's back, takes a job teaching three young witches the way of...well, witches.
I loved so many aspects of this story. I loved that the protagonist was in her early 30s, like me. I loved that we got a bit of the grumpy-sunshine trope we all love. I loved that Nowhere House was a magical setting that I would love to live in. And I loved that it was a low-stakes story that didn't cause me any anxiety but was still engrossing enough that I finished it within two days. Any time it felt like there was going to be a plot hole, or a "but wait, how is this possible?!" question, Sangu immediately answers it. It was such a fun, sweet read!
And, surprise, dear readers: it's out now! Go purchase The Very Secret Society of Irregular Witches--it's the perfect fall read!
Love and surprises in a sea of sunflowers,
Mandy
